I recently purchased a Timney 510. I installed it in a Remington 700. The actual trigger shoe has what I would call excessive side to side and front to back "play" when the firing pin is forward. Is this normal? When the firing pin is back, there is no "play". I have not fired the rifle yet. It has passed all safety and function tests without live ammunition. I already adjusted the sear and pull weight. It is a clean break at 2 lbs. I thought I would throw this question out today before I call Timney on Monday. Any info would be appreciated. I am just curious about the side to side play.

Re: Timney 510 question

I'm gonna say its normal. I don't have my indicators at the house, but my 510 has some free side to side, enough that it can be made audible, and a small amount of fore and aft movement under tension while uncocked. Never noticed before as I can think of no reason to worry over how a trigger behaves while uncocked. Hope this helps
