I saw this trigger in a Midway catalog and really like the fact that you can adjust so much on it, seems like a really good to design to me. The trigger on my 5R is HORRIBLE right now, and I want to upgrade it, has anyone used this trigger? I don't see the no safety being and issue, but if I want to do tactical shoots in the future would this be a problem?

Also whats the recommended pull weight for a tactical rifle?

Thanks,
Jake

Re: Timney Tactical trigger for M700?

The trigger weight is awfully light for a rifle that will be used anywhere other than the bench. In fact Timney's web site says : "This trigger was created for the Bench-rest and long distance varmint shooters". 4 ounces to 10 ounces are usually reserved for benchrest shooting, especially with no safety.

The only reason I can think they named this a tactical trigger is marketing, especially when their own product description says it was created for benchrest.

As a rule you won't see a rifle for tactical or field use at less than 1.5-2 pounds. If you do go with this trigger you may want to consider a bolt shroud safety.

Jake, I have about 1000rds under one of those triggers. As of right now, Would I buy another? Yes, I would.
I will say, however, during the last match I shot, the striker followed the bolt down 3 times out of 130rds fired. I suspect the trigger is probably dirty, so I will clean it, check the adjustment and give it another go. If it sets up as advertised, then I will get another down the road, if not I will be looking elsewhere.
One of the reasons I bought the trigger is the option of fore and aft adjustment of the trigger itself.

I might add the rifle sporting this trigger is used for Long Range Prone matches, fired from a sling, not F-Class.

Thanks for the info guys, My factory trigger breaks clean and doesn't have an annoying amount of creep to it, its just so damn hard to pull, lol. Feels like its set to 15 pounds haha.

I really want the CG Jackson trigger that Bauer Arms sells, but I think I might try to tweak my stock remington trigger first.

A friend has this trigger in his rifle and he loves it. It is set at 4 ounces. The few times that I have shot it I have had no issues with it. Have thought about adding it to my rifle but at a little higher trigger pull.
