Timney trigger questions

I just put a timney trigger in my rifle, if I hold the rifle in regular shooting position everything is right, but when I tilt the rifle 90degrees to the side, the trigger doesn't catch the sear and I can't shoot.

I'm attaching a video that shows it, it's 100% repeateble , tilt the rifle and it doesn't work..

I have had this rifle for a while and never had any issue like this.

Anybody has an idea?

Does it also do this when positioned straight up (pointed to the sky) and cycled?

Yes, I have had this problem with a timney trigger. As I recall, the trigger appeared to be missing a spring to reset the sear and it depended on gravity to keep the sear in a position to grab bolt sear. Worked fine upright, would not work upside down. Can't remember if this was a design flaw or something was missing, I work on triggers and put a spring in this one to make it work.

The sear needs to be engaged more.

Did you adjust it? This is common when trying to set them too light.

No I didn't mess with the trigger, just put it in my rifle

I'm pretty sure Timney frequents this board (they commented on the KRG trigger thread). Might want to take this offline with them first to see if this is indeed a problem, or a one off (where something got missed in assembly).

I've had this happen with a couple Timney triggers. One was set too light and the other was a bedding issue that must have been putting something in a bind. Worked great out of the stock but as soon as you tightened it down it wouldn't reset. I had to put it up to about 4 lbs before it would reset consistently.

You can try adjusting the trigger weight to get more sear contact. What gun is this trigger for. If it is a mauser trigger, tightening the set screw that bears aginst the receiver also changes sear contact. What gun is thre trigger for?

It's a Remington 700 lefty, so I should screw the screw in the front of the trigger more in?

I got the trigger used and changed the title to something more nicer, I don't blame timney for this used trigger not working as I would expect it.

I'm sure Timney appreciates that. On a side note, Timney may be able to help as well. They usually stand by their products pretty firmly. Perhaps they'll chime in here with some help as well.

Turning the rear screw out, the one by itself 1/4 to 1/2 turn may resolve the issue.

Hopefully Timney can chime in, but I’m guessing whoever had it before had it adjusted too light.
