I just purchased ~1000 Scenar Ls for just about nothing on a whim. I'd like to laid them for a 260. Does anyone w/experience have any tips? Are they jump sensitive? Where is a good starting point for jump?
Never shot them in a .260 but I did shoot them a bit in a 6.5x47 lapua. They're flexible with seating depth. I shot them jammed mostly, but they were also happy just off the lands so concentrate on your load rather than the seating depth to start with.
They haven't been jump sensitive in my Tikka 260. I've jumped them from 20 to 90 thousandths and all grouped fine. I settled on 30 thousandths off the lands. Does the place you got them at have any more for a good deal?
You don't want those. They're nothing but trouble. You'd be better off just getting them off yours hands and sending them to me.
I I have loaded and shot many thousands of these. In a number of seating lengths and loads. My current barrel is happy at .015" off the lands, but frankly, when I did the seating depth test, I loaded one extra of each of 10 seating lengths and shot them all into one ragged hole that was just under 1 moa while checking velocity variation of the seating depths. And I'd bet that a good bit of that variation was due to the driver.
I load these for several friends and myself all of our rifles are shooting Lapua brass, H4350 (45.5-43.8grs), Fed 210M's and seated to mag length.
My rifle is jumping 0.020" and not a problem at all.
Good luck.
