What is the difference in all these models (quick cuff, slip cuff, slip cuff quick release and the combo cuff sling)? Which one should I go with? Just looking for something simple that works.

Re: TIS sling which one?

Personally id go with a TAB if you dont have a sling yet, easier to operate IMHO

TAB has quick release buckles, its alot easier if the rifle is slung across your back to get out of the TAB by just disconnecting the buckle.
Either will serve you fine, but TAB gets my vote.

Re: TIS sling which one?

TAB is by far the easiest and most comfortable sling I have, I also have a TIS and a Turner.

Re: TIS sling which one?

Slip cuff quick release.

Re: TIS sling which one?

Since you asked specifically about TIS slings, I'll go a little more in depth in this reply.

1. TIS Quick Cuff Obvious trait is the detachable arm cuff. You can leave the cuff around your arm and quickly detach it if needed. Some shooters have cuffs sewn to their shooting jacket, BDU sleeve etc.

2. TIS Slip Cuff Is easiestly described as an updated version of the classic 1907 leather shooting slings. There is still an arm cuff like the Quick, but it is not detachable. The arm cuff is built into the front half of the sling and is pulled down onto your bicep.

3. TIS Slip Cuff Quick Release Its the same as the TIS Slip Cuff, but with the addition of a QR buckle in the cuff section. This allows you to quickly get your arm out of the cuff if you "Gotta-Go".

4. TIS Combo Cuff Is a combination of the Quick Cuff and Slip Cuff slings. It has the front half of a Qucik Cuff on one end, and the front half of a Slip Cuff on the other.

Photo shows the open loop of the Slip end and the buckle where the arm cuff would attach on the other.

All of the TIS slings come with changeable hardware so they can be moved to rifles with different styles of attachment. Hardware options at the time of purchase include: no swivels, HK/AI style hooks, push button quick release for use with Flush Cups and Talon Heavy Duty Swivels for use with standard factory sling studs.

As I said before, of the TIS slings, the Slip Cuff works the best for my needs on the range and in the field.

Re: TIS sling which one?

I guess a good way to put it is the TIS is a Model T and the TAB is a new F250. Both will get you from point A to point B but the one is updated, far easier to use and will out perform the old out dated version.

Re: TIS sling which one?

Since you asked which TIS sling to get, I would also recommend the slip cuff.

Even though you didn't ask for info/recommendations on TAB slings, you got some above. I have both TAB and TIS slings and think both have their own pros and cons. Having both, I know that either will serve you well.

The Model T/F-250 comparison is ridiculous, IMHO.

You have any operating time behind either one? Or, are you Internet comandoing again?

Re: TIS sling which one?

+1 on the TIS slip cuff. Ive had both and ended up liking the slip cuff for its simplicity.

Good solid sling IMO.

Re: TIS sling which one?

I have Slip cuff

+Easy to use
+Pretty fast to use
+Works well in all seasons.
-Pain to adjust at first but once you get it done right its gtg.

Really, How so??
I have and use both.

Re: TIS sling which one?

Lets not start a TIS versus TAB, thing just because Cowboy is off his medication. Tony does not want it and I dont want it. Many slings work very well, my designs and TABs have plus's and minus's. The question was about TIS Slings.

That Quick Cuff Cowbunny bad mouthed has won pretty much every US Military Sniper Rifle Sling Contract in last five years. Easy and fast to use it.

Re: TIS sling which one?

I have owned/used the TAB and the TIS Quick Cuff. If I was going to be doing nothing but competition and banging at the range, the Quick Cuff would be my preference, for sure. The detachable but always worn cuff was awesome. But since I hunt with all my rifles, I need fewer things dangling off my slings and I need to be able to to do a 'quick wrap' when I don't have time to properly sling up. The TAB does that wonderfully and works the other way as well.

Now, the TIS Combo slip/quick seems like the Holy Grail. I thought I was thru buying shit for a while but I gotta check that out. Killer idea.

I have a TAB and my buddy has a TIS, I have operating time behind both, the only internet commando here is you bud.
Do you want me to post up pics of my TAB? I can and will gladly.

Sorry for shitting on the thread Mike, I wont be posting on it from now on.
To the op: either sling will serve you very well so go with the one that you like the best.

Re: TIS sling which one?

I have both the quick cuff and slip cuff. For a hunting rifle, the slip cuff is the clear choice because it is streamlined and no separate piece to get in the way or get lost. The quick cuff is more of pro's sling: you might have the cuff sewn into your shooting jacket and then you just clip in. I have a slip cuff on all my hunting rifles and the quick cuff gets used only rarely. If you shoot for a job, maybe the quick cuff would be more appealing. Hope that helps.

Re: TIS sling which one?

Cowbunny? Awww, how sweet. Pet names are cute but if you want to flirt please take it to pm, email or look me up on the range... That is if you still shoot. You say you have all these mil contracts but I rarely see your sling in the hands of Mil Snipers. Weird.... Though I don't doubt the military purchases your slings and just because they do doesn't mean it is the best thing since sliced bread.

The reason I brought up the TAB Sling is simply because Iloveguns said,
<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Just looking for something simple that works.</div></div>

Seeing how I own and have used several TIS slings for several years and for the past two or so years have switched over to the TAB I can say the TAB is <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> something simple that works.</div></div>

Re: TIS sling which one?

Cowboy, do you know who Tactical is. LOL. Must be a range poser, jeez.

Re: TIS sling which one?

Most of the vendors who support the Hide are good guys (there's one I'll not deal with again, but that's just me). And I don't think anyone meant to be disrespectful to Tactical. He makes good stuff. I loved the cuff. I just use the Triad-purchased TABs because I need to use them for hunting. If my next rifle is a competition-only weapon I'll definitely have a quick-cuff on it.

No, they're pretty much around all the time. Especially when NOT needed.

Re: TIS sling which one?

Snake, with others this may have been accidental but this is not first time Cowboy has done this or worse before. I am fairly certain he meant to insult. Your TAB sling will serve you well.

Cowboy, you are welcome to take this to email, pm or call me. My number is 510-919-7286. I would gladly talk with you in person also but not likely to meet up anytime soon unless you start shooting NRA Matches. If I have done something wrong to you have it out with me, but frankly other than seeing you Demoing slings at TAB's Shot Show Booth I could not pick you out of a line up.

I still shoot. Was on 2009 US National F TR Rifle Team, competed in 2009 World Championships, we did fairly well, and was lucky enough to get picked for Vice Captain for 2013 US National Team. Granted between my deployment/redployment to/from Iraq last year and my injury suffered in Feb this year, training to go back to Sand Box I have not been shooting much. Hard to shoot with broken back and four blown disks, but should be back up and running soon.

As to why you dont see my slings in US Military hands much? Heck I dont know why, but the numbers are very high, so I am more suprized you dont see them much. I saw them in Iraq fairly regularly.

Re: TIS sling which one?

Hey guys just a follow up. The new Sling Design, jointly worked on with another company is called the Slip Cuff Gen Two Quick Release. I will also be bringing out an updated version of the Slip Cuff. Its called the Slip Cuff Gen Two. The later is basically the standard Slip Cuff with reinforced cuff and quick adjustable rear section.

There has been some confusion on the new slings as to design/name. Been so busy with the Quick Cuffs for militray orders this has taken far longer than it should.

Have a new dealer in Quantico area called Matt D Tactical.

He has the Slip Cuff Gen Two Quick Release in stock, although because of a snafu on my end he has them listed as the Gen Two Quick Cuff.

U.S. Marine Scout Snipers are being issued T.I.S. slings.

I stand corrected, then. Go ahead and kick him in the nuts.

Re: TIS sling which one?

Mike:

The new slings look good. Don't really need another sling, but will have to get one anyway. Keep up the good work.

Re: TIS sling which one?

Mike, I have your M24 Contract and pure LOVE the darn thing. I wnat to get one for my open sighted .22LR and will try them on my service rifles aswell. That new combo sling has me thinking hard.

And if your worried about getting into a hasty sling quickly with the Quick Cuff, its simple, just use it like a normal sling and its fine. I do that all the time. I prefer to use the cuff but hasty works fine. I find it quicker to use the quick cuff then a slip cuff style taht I have on my CZ .22 (KKK 1907 Leather Sling) and the original issued slings on my SMLE and M39.

I havent used a TAB but nearly bought one before I used the TIS. I may get a TAB to compare but being a former Fullbore and current service shooter, the TIS suits me down to the ground.

If its what you want and suits you, then get it. Only YOU can make the best choice for YOUR kit. What works for me or everyone else, may not work for you.
