I don't think titanium resists gas erosion very well. No personal experience, but that's what I've read. If making titanium muzzle devices was practical or cost-effective, I'm sure someone would be doing it.

Someone is doing it, at least Christensen arms is putting them on their carbon barrels. I don't have more than 300 rounds through mine, so can't speak as to how it will hold up over thousands of rounds, but it doesn't show anything currently.

I have made several and they seem to be holding up very well. Titanium is used in silencers baffles as well. You dont see them commercialy much due to the cost of materials and machine time.

I've had one on a Open Pistol in 38 super. After 15000 rounds it did have a little erosion around the thru holes in the baffles. I realize this is different than rifle.

+1 on the cost and machining! Titanium is a P.I.T.A to work with.

The brake used on the Timberwolf is made of titanium , high grades are fine as long as metal , ie bullets do not rub , contact ,as it gualls worse than SS

did anyone think to venture a look see at some SS brakes that have some serious flame errosion after some use???
and yes TI cans do got TI baffles.....but NOT the first one...the one that takes all the heat
i should think the cost of diminishing returns is rapidly approached jocking up a TI muzzle brake.....really!

heres my titanium break its sweet. its half the weight. you can see there is a slight color differance from the break and abs stainless barrel cap.
I personally would be very cerebral in the terms of maintenance. TI loves to gall. You let a brake get heat cycled a few times, and all the while its becoming more and more boogered up with funk, it might decide to just live on the end of your barrel permanently.
Here is a picture of my titanium brake for my 50 BMG next to a steel brake. I put two of the larger Harrell brakes and a JP brake in the picture for scale.
The piece of titanium cost more than the other brakes but so far all is well.
I did mine to make a weight restriction on the rifle.

After reading this thread , what are your opinions on using a Ti TOMB with a suppressor? I currently have a Ti TOMB and my can should be in hand any day .
I think if you use a good grade of ti like 6al you’d be fine, I used to machine down hole tools for baker out of titanium which definitely took some gas exposure, some of the tools were 12’ long and took anywhere from 3-4 months to machine but with the right tooling and feeds and speeds it was easier to machine than some stainless steels, but as others have said it can gall and I’ve seen many of drill bits get gummed up and break off in them.
I have a SLR Rifleworks Ti Mini-Comp on my 18” 6.5 Grendel upper, no issues, no noticeable erosion.
