I got few naked deviant..i noticed on one of them boltface with little surface corrode being crome moly bolt.i got it cleaned and oiled up..running them action uncoated is smoth..is it going to be as slick and smoth after got it DLC on bolt body and receiver? Or raw naked still smother and slicker?.
Or should i just DLC bolt body as receiver is SS anyway?

I have felt a “naked” deviant and compared to my DLC deviant it was sticky feeling. It almost felt TOO closely machined.

The owner also said that it would bind up easily if anything got inside of it.

I would strongly suggest the DLC treatment. I am very happy with it.

I can't compare to a completely "naked" action, but DLC is super slick. I have both a DLC'ed Deviant and Mausingfield, and they are both impressively slick feeling.
Well its smoth right now always oiled up..for keep it slick and only way protect it from rust..with dlc coated donyou still oil or grease bolt?

I agree i feel that binding specially when bolt is dry.. nitrated is cheaper and ive seen defiance doing it...is there noticeable diff between the two

In my experience so far the actions are pretty slick even when dry. They will be a bit slicker when oiled.

Of course I would keep the lugs greased, but the bolt body itself I would have no issues running dry.

I have a naked deviant and if you dont carefully cycle the bolt it will bind. I would go DLC.

Ive called Defiance about this about a year or two ago when they started offering DLC and the guy said DLC made it better.
Ive felt a naked Deviant action and a DLCd action of another make, and Id agree that DLC can only improve it! Just make sure to use a reputable applicator. My favorites are Gunworks Machine and Club Custom Guns (Chad B.)

+1 for Chad at Club Custom Guns, he really does a good job.
I have him polish the internal raceways on the action too.
Yup chad doing mine with the polishing inside.but for little cheaper im only doing receiver and bolt body..and will ceracot small parts like shroud cocking piece bolt knob bolt release....im sure it wont matter much having the rest of parts ceracoated?
