So got the rifle to the range today to set the sights and do a barrel break in. Here are the results from two different programs. On Target and Ballistic AE

This was a 5 shot group at 100 yards, using loaded ammo I did. 38.7gr Varget, 168gr Sierra BTHP with a C.O.A.L of 2.800 +/-

On Target;

Nice group. Have you chronographed that load? I shot an OCW test today starting at 41gr Varget in FL sized LC brass under 168amax and it averaged at 2385fps in my AAC-SD. I would think 38.7gr would put it well under 2300fps probably close to 2250fps in my short barrel. What length barrel do you have?

No I didn't. It was more for optic sight-in and barrel break in. I'm going to load some more to start to run through the chrono. These loads will be in FL sized Lapua brass throwing 168gra Sierra BTHP's. I have 155gr Berger's that I want to work a load up on, and 185gr Bergers that are being shipped that I want to work a load on.

Seems like there's plenty more to go there for you with the 168 AMAX. I also have a 20" AAC-SD, and I chrono'd factory AMAX Match so I could figure out dope to 600 with it when I used it (before I started reloading for .308 - I'm using the brass frmo those factory rounds). A 20-round string of 168 AMAX Match gave an average speed of 2550fps at 25* F and 1075ft alt, std bar. Here's the data:

String 7
1) 2520.0 -30.7
2) 2528.0 -22.7
3) 2517.0 -33.7
4) 2537.0 -13.7
5) 2544.0 -6.7
6) 2523.0 -27.7
7) 2577.0 26.3
8) 2561.0 10.3
9) 2571.0 20.3
10) 2576.0 25.3
11) 2565.0 14.3
12) 2548.0 -2.7
13) 2572.0 21.3
14) 2552.0 1.3
15) 2601.0 50.3 f
16) 2532.0 -18.7
17) 2552.0 1.3
18) 2532.0 -18.7
19) 2562.0 11.3
20) 2544.0 -6.7

High: 2601.0
Low: 2517.0
E.S.: 84.0
Ave.: 2550.7
S.D.: 21.8
95%: ±10.8

What powder and charge were you using for that string?
I ran from 41-45gr Varget under mine and 45gr is just starting to compress when seated at 2.80"OAL. 44-45gr gave me 2575-2615fps. I plan on using this for a load that can be used as universal between my brother's rifle and mine. As long as it stays under pressure and under MOA accuracy it will satisfy our needs for it.

Really? I hope you read loadbooks closer than you do 'hide posts....

I guess you are right. You said you used match then started reloading with that brass. I guess when I read the next sentence I thought you meant it was your reloads. I totally missed the match part.
I triple check b4 I load. Good thing I guess.
