Re: tore up muzzle brake. any ideas what happened?

This whole thread makes me think of the japanese proverb "Saru mo ki kara ochiru", "Even monkeys fall from trees". Basically meaning nobodys perfect, even experts make mistakes. Hind sight is a woderfull thing so how bout we all just learn from this and stop bitching.

Re: tore up muzzle brake. any ideas what happened?

If the "gunsmith" that did this is a business then surely he has to have some form of public liability insurance to trade? In any case I think making a legal claim against him is in order.

Your damn lucky that neither you or anyone else suffered injury,..imagine the claim against YOU if the guy in the next lane had been marked by flying debris???

Re: tore up muzzle brake. any ideas what happened?

It is interestng on peoples different points of view of who is responsible for what (i can see valid points on both sides), but if a similar type of incident happened in the military (I was an Armourer in the Aussie Army) the Armourer would be hunted down both by an investigaton team and the operators involved.

I love how you point out and make fun of my spelling error but make no attempt to touch on the content of my last post. Typical argument strategy from someone who is totally off base.
So not only are you perfect at preventing completely unforseen accidents due to other people's negligence but you also win spelling b's as well. Your swell!!!

This guy obviously doesn't get it and never will.

At this point I think that I'll try to exercise some will power and stop commenting on this side topic. We'll see how this goes.....

To the OP, I would let the smith know that you are considering talking to a lawyer about the situation and at the very lease "out" him in any public forum you have access to. Don't go overboard though, just the facts and let people make the decision if they want to us his services.

You're kidding, right? Tell me that you saw this post, by the OP, about 2/3's back.

Again, glad to hear that things are working out.

A bit of advice from the peanut gallery would be for you to avoid nitpicking another member's spelling and grammer in an attempt to draw attention away from the debate you are the center of.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Culpeper</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> You people can come up with all the excuses you want but this is a clear case of the shooter failing to properly shoot that rifle for the first time after he put a muzzle <span style="text-decoration: underline"> </span> <span style="color: #CC0000">break</span> on it. . . . . . The term is: muzzle BRAKE.

Of course, you being a master of this discipline for longer than we've all been cumulatively alive and feeling the need to psycho-analyze and decode another member's intent, I'm sure you incorrectly used the term "muzzle break" on purpose.

Wow. I do agree with you on one thing. . the irony.

By the way. Don't waste your time jumping in my shit or dissecting my post. I was raised and educated in Louisiana just like the OP so I have a built in excuse for my flaws.

No wind,
Terry

Re: tore up muzzle brake. any ideas what happened?

OMG! Is this still going on?

I didn't think it was possible for someone to simmer in the sauces of their own ignorance for this long (Culpeper). But I guess that's what "Internet Road Rage" is all about. Sitting in the basement in your Underoos waiting for Mom to bring you breakfast and try not to get the donut crumbs in your keyboard and drink out of your spit cup....Classic....

Very nice but the visual is daunting....

Re: tore up muzzle brake. any ideas what happened?

Glad I shoot alone at a private range, and I gotta side with culpeper on this one

. (I always root for the underdogs) The smith should of known better, but the OP pulled the trigger. Involentary Manslauter charges would have stuck. Glad everyones ok, and it been entertaining reading this!

There are too many people that feel they are not responsible for their own weapon. You people can come up with all the excuses you want but this is a clear case of the shooter failing to properly shoot that rifle for the first time after he put a muzzle break on it. #1 he shouldn't have shot that rifle with somebody next to him that assumed he knew what he was doing because the shooter knew the gunsmith didn't test fire the weapon. #2, If so, he should have informed the guy next to him what he was about to do. And #3, all he had to do was use a little common sense and ask the gunsmith to show him the break had the proper clearance. Why? Because he should have thought of that himself. This bullshit about taking shit to a professional doesn't get you off the hook. If you have never seen anyone get their ass properly reamed out on a range for making a mistake than you haven't been shooting long enough and need to go back and read the basics because one of these days it is going to be you. I promise you that.</div></div>

You make me sick WANKER!
