I have a SPS tactical in .223 I put it in a PSS stock and torqued
it @ 55"lbs. Now when I take the bolt out, the bolt relese sticks.
But, the gun is shooting in the .3 and better with hand loads.
I read later that the SPS should be torqued @ 35"lbs.
If I lower the torque to 35"lbs. Will this fix the release problem?
If so, will it hurt the way it is shooting @ 55"lbs.?
FYI,I used the factory SPS bottom metal.
Thanks' for your time.
Mike

Re: Torque Question

I torque mine to 65in-lb in my HS precision PST-025 stock (short action version of the M24A3 stock). You are fine with the 55in-lbs. I have the same issue with my 40-x when I have it in my HS stock. It has to do with the amount of clearance under the bolt release lever. There is usually part of the aluminun bedding block that is in the way. You can either mill that portion out which is a very minute amount or you can even slightly rotate the action in the stock you will see how the bolt release lever problem goes away.

Let me know if you have any other questions,

Gene
