Help please. I'm ready to shoot this stick today once I the torque done.

I dropped a SPS 700 SA in a Bell & Carlson Medalist A5 stock. Now, I have my Wheeler fat wrench but I don't know what torque value to use on the front and rear screws.

I e-mailed Stock's, no answer yet.

Thanks!

I've used B&C stocks bedded and unbedded before. Unbedded, I ran 50 in-lbs on both. Bedded, I ran 60 in-lbs on both. People usually run around 65 in-lbs up front and 60 in-lbs in the rear (bedded condition). I've heard it's better to have the front 5 more than the rear screw. I've never tested it like that.

I would torque it around 50-60 and see how she shoots. Then, go from there.

Hope this helps!

i like to start the screws, stand the rifle on it's butt pad and snug the front screw, then snug the rear screw, then torque the front screw and finally torque the rear screw. this method keeps the recoil lug firmly seated against the recess.

300sniper just posted this on another thread. It's exactly how i do it too.

You're welcome!
