ya IP i knew that not FP.... hmm i have been eyeing up a seekonk torque wrench and though this might be the way to go

The inch pound settings I quoted were from Seekins Rings. Each manufacture will vary a little. Too tight is bad as you can damage your scope or strip out the screw. Too lose is obviously bad as your scope can move. So long as you are consistant and stay in that range, it not really too critical where in that range you set the tension at.

Glen suggests 15 inch pounds for his bases.

If you are looking for a wrench, go with the Borka MG3-SRA it has everything you would need for your rifle. I can't believe I have lived this long without the Borka wrench.

Check with the manufacturer of the rings/mount because each one seems to have their own ideas/recommendations on torque for both ring-to-base and ring cap screws.
