I've been told that a TRG-42 magazine can work in a TRG-S(M995) action. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm looking at converting what is now a 7RM into a 338LM at some point and but I can't find any magazines available as they've been discontinued. Bolt is no problem but no good w/o mags. Any help is much appreciated.

Why couldn't you use an aftermarket box mag system that uses AICS mags?

Unless you want it to be TRG mags you would need to have a bottom metal to accept the TRG mag and have a stock inlet for that. I've never seen such a product other than a TRG stock which would probably work but wouldn't be too cost effective.

I could be wrong though.

I'm not sure how hard it would be to get a 338L TRG bolt ??? but another alternative would be to go to a 338RUM or 338 Edge instead.

There are guys with TRG's that are buying KRG Whiskey stocks. You might be able to pick one up used or just buy the KRG.

I can't remember who it was but I've seen pics of guys building off M995's with AI mags and Manners or Mcmillan stocks.

FYI, I've shot my 7mmRM out to a mile with very good success. The 180 class bullets have a .67 BC and can be driven at 3000+ fps which rivals 338L ballistics without the recoil.

Re: TRG-42 magazine in an M995 action??

Thanks Steve. I've got the bolt or at least have access to it. I've also seen pics of a M995 in a Manners/McM stock and with either the TRG-42 or AI mags but couldn't tell. I am told that it can be done just not how. I'm willing to pay a premium as this would definitely extend the life of this receiver w/o converting whole sale to a TRG-42 chassis and trigger. LOL, although that will probably be cheaper that the route I'm taking. Just not as fun.

I looked at the KRG chassis some time ago and am on their waiting list but they still do not have a variant available for the M995 Mag. Looking at the posts regarding said chassis it looks like it's been in the planning for well over a year but again. No word so I've finally ordered a Mcmillian since they also have the bottom metal.

Try PM'ing Massoud , a member here, and a very knowledge resource for all things M995. He may have done something like this before.

You might also try PM'ing A10XRIFLE. George runs GA Precision, and has done a few M995 conversions as well

Called the folks at GAP. They couldn't help but referred me to Moon since he used to do their Sako work and has spun off to do his own thing. I left him a message earlier so hoping to hear back. Would be nice to use an AI or TRG-42 magazine even for the 300WM route.

Glock, what type of mag was that in that pic you sent me?

Pupdawg, just saw your post for some reason. Thanks for your reply. McMillan has the bottom metal and can put it on the A2,3,4 and 5. I'd prefer not use a chassis unless it was the Whisky 3 but I've decided to go more traditional now and the W3 doesn't appear to be ready. I'm going to do the W3 on my next build with a 700 action. Anywho, I'd like to use either an AI mag or the TRG-42 mag and there appears to be a way to do it. It's just finding the right person I guess.

And thanks Glock!

Thanks Massoud!! You beat me to IM'ing you. I'm being told that some sort of modification may be needed since I'm using the TRG-S trigger. Any ideas on what if anything needs to be done to make either of those mags work?

Talked to Moon today. He indicated the TRG-42 mags work no problem. So the bolt for it is now on the way to me.
