Looking for any information on how to run a better mag in a long action t3x. Planning on putting on a 6.5 prc barrel, so I think ideally id like a trg-42 mag. I have a ctr and like that setup, but as far as I can tell they dont make a long action version.

Anyone know of a bottom metal that would make this work? I may have to go aics, but id prefer not to.

Pretty no one makes a bottom metal for a tikka that accepts a TRG-42 mag.

Your best bet is a bottom metal that accepts the MDT 3.560” magazine. There are companies that make bottom metals that accept the 3.715” mag but you won’t be able load any longer than the 3.47” oal length that the 3.560” magazine allows due to the limits of the action. But if it’s a short mag like the 6.5PRC then it shouldn’t matter.

Why do you want to use TRG magazines?
AICS will be far easier and cheaper (unless you already have TRG magazines).
Maybe I just need to learn how to adjust them better, but I've had struggles feeding with aics

I have a ctr which uses basically cheap trg mags and have owned a trg both of which I like

Ok so if I go aics, I'd like the mdt bottom metal. I have a long action, so I'd need a long action bottom metal.

There appears to be 4? Aics mags? 223, 308, 6.5prc/300wsm, 300 win mag.

Do I get the 300 win mag size and 6.5 prc should work out of that?

MDT do 6.5PRC magazines that suit the standard short action bottom metals. Limited to 2.955" coal though.

Otherwise the AICS 300wm magazines will work.

There's supposed to be XM length bottom metal available for Tikka which would be perfect but I can't find and options for it. MDT look to make the bottom metal, or I on the past but I can only see it for sale in other countries.
