Trigger Recommendations for 6.5 Prc Hunting build

I don't see the point of a Diamond in a hunting rig, you want a little stiffer trigger and the Diamond costs more money to move you away from that. The TT Special is a better fit, I'd say. Single or 2-stage, whatever your preference; I'll note though that the TT Special 2-stage has a much less noticeable first stage than the Howa HACT that I have on another rifle. I was a little disappointed, the HACT is really nice about a big distinction between the 1st and 2nd stage (mostly it's more travel before hitting the "wall," which I like).

I have the TT Special on my PRS rifle, it is VERY evident when you hit the wall. Just adjust it to your liking.

I don't have a trigger pull scale, so I just set it by feel. I'm sure the second stage is a little stiffer than the first. The first stage is effortless, hit the wall, clean break with just a touch of pressure.

I've always liked two stage military triggers. A Colt Ar years ago, a .30 carbine and an M1A now. You know exactly when it's going to break.

Just one opinion but I have a similar hunting rifle setup - 6.5 PRC TL3 and Proof barrel. I originally had a single stage diamond in it but didn’t like how light the trigger was, especially when I was freezing my ass off. I now have a 2 stage special in it and can still feel the wall even with cold hands.

Sorry, my post was kinda unclear. It's not that the TT wall is squishy, it's not at all; I just would like more pre-travel in the first stage, there's not nearly as much take-up there as in the HACT trigger I have and I prefer the latter in that regard. Nonetheless, TTs are excellent, and I honestly refuse to own a rifle now that doesn't have the kind of clean snap that is standard with the TTs.

Exactly why I went with a 2 stage special for my Defiance anTI hunting builds.

I LOVE the TT Diamond single stage, and have it in 4 different target rifles set at 12 oz. That said, my hunting rifles have Huber 2 stage triggers set at 2.5 lbs. The TT Diamond, even at its max pull weight, is an extremely light feeling trigger (by design). To each his own, but the Diamond is too light for me for high altitude CO hunting where gloves and/or numb fingers come into play.

Check out the Huber. It's an awesome hunting trigger, and that's coming from a TT Diamond fanatic.

Bix n Andy are my favorites. The tac sport or tac sport pro would be great for a hunting rifle. You can also change the trigger shoes if you prefer a certain style.

I appreciate all of your comments re: the 2 stage triggers. Like I mentioned above, I have never tried one. It’s always a case of you never know until you try something. I’m most interested in the comments re: preference for hunting triggers. Everyone has their own take on what works best for them, but you opened my eyes a bit. Thanks…

+1 for TT 2-stage Special. I got the flat shoe variant. Very pleased with the feeling of the take-up for consistency in my trigger prep and the ultra crisp break even if set in the 2-3 lbs range. This is on an ARC Nucleus/Proof 6.5 CM/KRG Bravo build, my primary hunting rifle

I have two TT specials with flat trigger shoes on two Atlas actions.
I dont personally have any use for triggers set bellow 1.25# so didnt opt for the diamond but if thats what suits you go with the diamond, if not its a waste of money.
I had a Jewel set below 1# before i started buying TT but never liked that light of a trigger so moved on.
The Jewel was an excellent trigger it just doesnt have the reliability of the TT when dirty and dusty.
Were i live now we have dirt, dust and wind so something to think about.

Pretty lame quoting myself but I forgot something above.

The reason I went with the TT Special is the Diamond was another hundo for 4oz less weight that I would never use!

As I mentioned, without a scale I have no clue where it's at, but it is quite a bit more than 4oz!

I'm guessing with all the other TT Specials mentioned, the reasoning was the same.
