Rifle Scopes Trijicon scopes

Re: Trijicon scopes

Haha, they have been discussed quite a bit recently!

You don't see them as much on this forum, being that this is a "snipers" forum, and most of what you see here is bolt action rifles.

Their application is not really for that, but more of a fast acquisition, medium range engagement.

Re: Trijicon scopes

Sorry if I didn't construct my question properly. I understand the function of the Acogs and understand that they have no long range application. I was referring to the "Scopes" that Trijicon makes.

Here's a link to an example of what I am talking about.

Don't see them mentioned or discussed much. Trying to determine where they might sit in the pecking order of quality.

Re: Trijicon scopes

I understood you. I have the AccuPoint 1-4x24 for my UPSPA AR, and I have no complaints about it whatsoever.

I have no firsthand knowledge of their higher powered scopes.

Re: Trijicon scopes

i have used all thier accupoints except the 5x25 you referenced. a lot of value for the price point. they are not s&b,USO,NF. but very respectable clarity and 1/3 the cost$

Re: Trijicon scopes

5-20x50 Accupoint:
No BDC reticle
No MOA or mil holds
No zero stop
SFP

Scope has excellent clarity, durable, no battery ideal for tactical situation, but at 20X power, you really need most of features above to fully utilize its usefulness. It's a scope with lots of potential, and hopefully they'll design some better features into it later. I use their 3X TA33H-G and love it for short and medium range on my A3.

Re: Trijicon scopes

I've been looking at these myself. The only thing that I don't like about them is the turrets don't match the reticle. Meaning they have a mil-dot, but MOA turrets. And it would be nice to see a FFP version. The 5x25 that I looked at had great glass and the knobs seemed to have good crisp and audible clicks. I don't remember how much elevation they have, but it seems like it was on the small side too.

I did ask a Trijicon rep. that was at a local gun store one day about the previously described issues and he said they are working on it. We'll see. I sure like the ACOG, so if they can get the Accupoint scope with matching turrets and maybe a FFP model, I may get one.

Re: Trijicon scopes

The only complaint I've heard about them, and it isn't easy to verify since its not listed on the website, is that they have a very limited total MOA travel.

The 5-20x is really the only model in the AccuPoint lineup that suffers from the limited adjustment range having only around 50MOA. The 2.5-10x has around 70MOA (72MOA IIRC). The 1-4x models have around 50MOA as well, but not generally a problem since they weren't designed for extended range use anyway. On the 5-20x models, f you run them with a 20MOA base, best case scenario you get around 45MOA of elevation adjustment which gets you beyond 1k without too much trouble.

That said, despite the limited adjustment range, the lack of available features of the AccuPoint that are commonly found on your better precision rifle glass, make the AccuPoint more of a hunting optic than a long-range, precision optic. Also, the 1-4x make decent 3-gun and AR scopes. That is most likely why you don't see anything more than you do on these scopes on the Hide.

Re: Trijicon scopes

Trijicon Accupoints are very nice scopes, they are well made, great glass, and there illumination system is very nice. The biggest issue with them is they offer a Mil-Dot reticle with MOA turrets. I really like there scope for hunting but I’m not a big fan for long range tactical shooting. The Accupoint 1-4x is nice for a carbine scope.
