I'm looking to eventually replace two burris fullfield II scopes. One is on a Remington 700 .308 and the other is on a 20" bull barrel AR-15. I currently own two Trijicon scopes that are on other rifles. I have been pleased with them so far. I am currently limited to a max distance of 200-300 yds. Daylight, low light, and possibly night shooting. I also shoot frequently with subsonic loads. Due to the subsonics, I need to dial my scopes up and down a lot. The trijicons have been good for this so far. The burris scopes do not have enough adjustment, so I max out the elevation and then use one of the drop down cross hairs. So far, the tracking has been good on both of these. Who knows how the tracking will be long term. Next week, I'm getting a used SWFA 10X42M for the Remington. I got it cheap enough that it wont be a big loss if I don't like it. Lack of illumination may be an issue for me. Dual illumination, no switch, and no batteries is a huge plus to me. This is why I was considering another Trijicon for the AR-15 and possibly on the 700.

I know Leupold Mark 4 and Nightforce are great scopes. I have read a lot of information on comparisons between these scopes but most of them focus on glass, internal adjustment, reticle choices, moa/mil, etc.

My main concern is turret tracking and durability. Would I gain anything in these two areas, within this price range?

Thanks for any input!

Trijicon makes a fine product.
The MK4's are good scopes, but very dated.
Nightforce would be a good choice as always.
There are a plethora of very good optics available, not many though with dual illumination.
Most will require some electrical source.
There are many excellent options, including new options on the Burris XTR II series, they are very well designed with loads of adjustment.
Burris, Bushnell, Vortex, Sightron and Athlon all make products that will fit your needs, as well as those you already mentioned.

I've really been digging the Burris XTR II line. It has been a very consistent product.

I would also add the Sig Whiskey 5 rifle scopes to the mix as well.

It has been a while since I was in the market for a scope and apparently I'm behind the times. I did not realize the Mark 4 was outdated. I would be perfectly happy with another Trijicon, however, if there is something in the same price range, that offered better durability or tracking, then I would be interested. Whatever I choose, it would have to be at least equal to the Trijicon in durability and tracking. Also, illumination would be a requirement, even if it is battery operated.
