When the riots happened in Newark NJ, my neighbors and I sat on our front steps with our shotguns. The show literally took place in the street before us. They'd look at us and keep on going. The National Guard would keep about 1/2 block behind them.
A lot of lessons were learned in that time.
The government decided it was time to disarm the electorate, one small step at a time, and it continues on to this day.
We knew then that the government was in their own side, not ours. Whatever happened, we were on our own, and Uncle Sugar was out to take our guns.; still is.
Civil rights was a reasonable response to the way of the day. What he have today is what happens when nobody raises the red flag and says 'enough'. We still have what we have because nobody has the courage to stand up and say that things have gone too far. Entitlement has grown to include 'complete free rein and nobody better complain'.
We did it all to ourselves. Maybe, just maybe, there's still time for the country to grow a pair.
This election, it could all collapse. From now on, that's every election (for those who still believe in elections).
