    Hi guys -

I am looking for some of your collective expertise. I have used the Google search feature and read just about all of the posts that are listed RE: the Tubb carrier weight system. I've also read quite a few RE: heavier buffers. None seem to quite answer my questions. Either that or I am just the slow kid in class.

I am running an 18" OBR with a Tubb CS buffer spring. I have been doing load development for it and it really seems to like the following:

    LC LR brass
    45.0 Varget
    175 SMK
    FED210M

Some have cautioned me that this load could be a bit on the warm side. I am not seeing any pressure signs at all. Still, I don't want to beat my gear up, especially when it costs as much as it does. Will a Tubb CWS and/or heavy buffer help to "tame" the effects of a load that is a bit on the hotter side?

If you need a heavy buffer I have one in the for sale section.
How far is the brass flying? adjustable gas block or heavy buffer will slow it down.

That is a hot load for a bolt action much less an AR. If you are trying to push your loads, I think you have the wrong platform. Regarding the CWS product, it is fantastic and you won't go wrong buying it.

I have one in my LR 308 along with that Tubb CS Spring, works great. Using the tungsten CWS slug.
But hey man, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. You just trying to slow it down? I think you're probably working the brass pretty hard with that load, but it's LR brass, meant to do that, imo.

What muzzle velocity are you getting with that load? Every chamber is different, and I don't think that load sounds "too" hot, especially if you have no pressure signs. I have used the Tubb spring in my AR10 with a Rock River 9MM buffer I cut down to fit the AR10, and have had zero issues running 175 SMK at 2685 (to match the M3A BDC).

I am getting 2,607 from an 18" barrel with the 45.0 of Varget.

Yeah, I think the velocity is pretty good. I am not seeing any pressure signs, but I don't want to beat the rifle up either. Some here have said they think that 45.0 is a bit hot for a gasser.
