I keep thinking I'm missing something - that the dems are not that crazy. If this impeachment thing doesn't work out for them they just made things worse for themselves in 2020. Yet, that's where we're heading. So, I guess this is their only play. They are willing to sacrifice any ground they made in 2018 on the slim hope that they succeed in ousting Trump. And then what? They get Pence? Are they willing to go through impeachment of him too? By the time they get through enough impeachment hearings to get nancy in office, it will be 2024 already.
So, in our analogy the dems are the cellar dweller team that has that one ace pitcher, no offense, no bullpen. They are just hoping to get lucky. And their ace is on the mound and getting tired.

They may also be trying to kick off fireworks... Communist doctrine from the very beginning is that what will arise from the ashes... is a purer, better form of Marxism. With the breakdown of everything, then they can start over from the beginning. Assuming that the Shining Path to socialism will triumph. It's delusional... but, then again, Russia was a monarchy before it wasn't. China was... something... before it wasn't. Cuba was a... something before it wasn't. If they can take down oligarchs and dictators... then why not a Constitution?
Remember... the mantra from 2008 - 2017? Fundamentally change America? Transform the whole country? When you have your communist hands on the levers of power for 8 years... and a complicit press and an army of brownshirts... you can cause a lot of damage. Think 1933 - 1939? That ended well.
They are putting the Mental in Fundamental.
I think they have an end game in mind. And the end game of the zealots has nothing to do with elections or a Constitutional Republic existing a few years from now.
You think it's a coincidence that the back-benchers who were at the furthest left of the spectrum 20 years ago... Pelosi, Nadler, Schiff, Schumer, Feinstein... these far out, hippie-holdover '60s Socialists run the committees and the speakers office and are the face of the Democrat party? Not at all. They sensed since the days of Roosevelt that the party was ripe for takeover. Start with a Progressive Globalist named Wilson. Up the ante with a New Deal. Keep it going with a Great Society. Have a couple of speedbumps when an idiot peanut farmer with a great smile and no ideas at all... wins a surprise election... followed by a return to American values. But, regroup, retrench, take over the bureaucracy from the local school board to every consequential federal office and legislative committee... take over colleges, the media and Hollywood. And then get your Dreamy Kenyan Manchurian Candidate with the great Abs to light the fuse. Do you think that is a coincidence?
There have been some interesting historian 're-boots' of Joseph McCarthy. The argument that he was a lot more right than wrong... has a lot of legs. But academic historians have spent 50 years destroying him... while using his exact tactics in the imposition of Political Correctness, Cancel Culture, the physical intimidation of differing viewpoints... and the mainstreaming of everything from Communism to 98 genders.
Perhaps after the smoke clears, we should be putting Joseph McCarthy on the $20 bill?
