Twist rate required for 7mm 162gr Amax?

Thinking about adding a 7MM to the collection. What does the Hornady 162gr. Amax need?

Sea level, cold day in Pennsylvania will still stabilize at 1:9 with the new 162's.

Warm days, higher altitudes, etc. will affect it and I've seen success with a 10 and 11 twist under some conditions. Those were "seasonal" loads though and could not be shot all year round on the east coast.

7mm-08 and faster 1 in 9 tw will do it for you for sure

1:9 twist with my 280AI @ 2960fps gets me 1/2" @ 200. Works for me

I'm thinking of a Savage LA in 7mmRM or possibly a Remington Sendero. The Savage has a 9.5 twist. Their short action 7mm-08 rifles come with a 11.5 twist. The Sendero comes with a 9 twist/26" long barrel, while the Savage comes with a 24". After shooting out the Savage barrel, I could easily replace it with whatever I want though.

Dual purpose rifle for hunting and occasional target.

1 and 9 will be perfect for 7mm-08 or really anything for that matter. If you are shooting a mag than a 1 and 10 would probably be better

My 18" 9twist 7mm-08 does just fine with a silencer attached, stable enough for me.
