Part of the interview:

"You were telling me about those desensitizing videos before.

Yeah…part of the training to be a sniper is to desensitize you to death. Before a lot of our classes they’d play a couple of gruesome murder videos of people getting their fucking heads cut off, or being gutted alive. Fucked to death with a knife. It made Faces of Death look like Sponge Bob."

Is this for real among the other things in the interview?

<span style="color: #FF0000">"Whats the farthest you can shoot?

In school we learned to get headshots at 1000 yards. Not between the eyes, just a headshot."</span>

I think that pretty much clears up if this is B.S. or not...

Re: Undercover Interview: I'm a Sniper.

"Its basically battalion reconnaissance"

Oh my...

This is just sad but probably legit. This douche is definitely embellishing the story and making it sound like more than it is. There are enough fragments of truth that would be hard to gain and piece together to make this story work.

MOA at 1000 yards could be considered a head shot.

It's not part of a curriculum but you usually end up watching some pretty nasty shit. It is more of an internal cultural thing. Mostly to get a rise. The sniper community is/was very fragmented. The Chief Scout could have come up with this and made it a part of training.

Yeah but that's not the point. In the "Make the Cut: Marine Snipers" episode you see that the snipers only have to hit a body sized silhouette at 1000yrds not a head shot.

Like I said his information is embellished in some areas but there is enough accuracy in his other statements that would lead me to believe that he is legit.

BTW MOS schools are only a portion of the training. It doesn't stop because you went to a school. Who knows what his Chief Scout had them doing.

Re: Undercover Interview: I'm a Sniper.

Well, parts seem legit enough but I didn't read the whole thing. I got bored with it. But this is the part that didn't hold water for me:

"I was a sniper in Iraq. I graduated from sniper school in (Location Withheld), and I spent about 2 and a half years in the unit in California, and then I got out of the Marines to go to school. While in school I found out that the unit I had just left went to Iraq, so I was fucking pissed off…I had heard of buddies getting killed. One of my best friends got his hand blown off, and I was just fucking pissed. I didn’t spend years of hell training to be a sniper, and then not get to do shit. I talked to a couple Marine buddies of mine. They found a unit that needed sniper team leaders, and they let me go over to Iraq with the unit, but not necessarily under a contract. Just sort of like a handshake with the colonel."

I served 28 years ago so maybe things are different now... but how the hell do you leave the Corps to go to school and then talk to a couple of buddies and have a "Handshake deal" with a Colonel and wind up a "sniper team leader"??? This could have NEVER happened back when I was in. Anybody got any more current wisdom they can shed on this?

We had guys come with us on a one year contract in 2004.

Re: Undercover Interview: I'm a Sniper.

Yeah, I made it to the "handshake" part thinking the guy might be legit, and then called BS on it.

He didn't say anything about a one year contract, he said he just went free and clear, in other words he wasn't even in the Marines but was just there. Would absolutely never happen in a hundred years.

I think even calling it embellished is a stretch.

Re: Undercover Interview: I'm a Sniper.

I think its total BS, something you might hear in the game room at at a mall.

The only thing dummy then this idiot is me for wasting my time reading that crap.

Re: Undercover Interview: I'm a Sniper.

"Yes. The whole goal of a sniper is to kill people. The big thing in the community, and especially if you talk to a sniper who has been in combat is to ask “How many kills do you have?”. That’s the first questions a sniper asks another sniper that’s been in combat. If you answer zero, you feel ashamed."

....
To my understanding, and im not a sniper, but ive heard its uncalled for and stupid to boast about your kills or your farthest shot. Idk i may be wrong, sounds like him and his buddies carried rulers to measure dicks too.

"It almost sounds like you treat it like a video game.

Oh yeah….totally."

I think he interviewed a POG that made up all this shit, i know a few marines who act like this, they lie 24/7

"So is killing someone a big deal?

No. Its like shooting a paper target."

..done.

I can only hope that the military would weed out someone like that. Those responses borderline on the psychotic serial killer type not someone doing a job that in one way or another could save lives in the future.

Re: Undercover Interview: I'm a Sniper.

Before we throw our own under the bus, has it ever occurred to anyone that this is indeed a legit interview BUT the owner of the blog (Jarrett), the own who did the interviewing added his own spin and twisted this guy's words to make him seem like a jackass tool? Perhaps to push a liberal/anti-war agenda?

I wouldn't put anything past the liberal media.
