Anyone ever acquire a box of random gun parts only to find 2 scopes like these? Now if only I had fitting rifles to mount them on. Anyone more knowledgeable than me care to teach me something about what I have here?

The original Mann Niedner mount on your Winchester A5 is worth quite a bit of money. You essentially hit the jackpot when it comes to the Winchester A5 scopes. Congrats!

That’d be sharp, I was thinking something like that for hunting in Ohio. Or maybe a model 70 for varmints and fun. But if someone made me an offer before I get to that point I might consider it too

If you do decide to sell the scopes, don't get lowballed on the Winchester A5 scope with the USMC Mann Niedner mount. That one is worth quite a bit. I sold my last A5 Mann Niedner scope a few years ago for around $2,500. I'm not sure what's up with the objective housing on your A5 scope, looks like some aftermarket addition. Regardless, it's still a very valuable scope with that military mount and the objective hou3/: is easy to replace if you can find the correct parts. I just looked through my parts safe to see if I had any spare parts I could send you, but unfortunately I don't have Winchester A5 parts.

If you plan on keeping the scope, do a USMC 1903A5 build! Going off of pure aesthetics, a Winchester A5 on a Model 1903 is hard to beat! I don't have a Mann Niedner rifle (yet), but I do have a Winchester 1903A5. We believe that this is an original USMC sniper rifle/target rifle (the A5's were used by snipers and the USMC shooting team) that was made in 1919. Since it was made right after WWI ended it never saw combat and it's in pristine condition. Although it's not the exact scope you have, this should give you some ideas for a rifle to go with your scope:

I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t held the scope up to my 1903a1 and thought about it for a good minute

For those that said mount it on a 1903, what’s the best place for a guy to find mounts to do so?

+1 for steve Earle

give them a call, you will likely talk to his daughter,

they are old school, as in if the blocks are instock, just mail payment in and they will mail you the blocks

I was emailing, and it took over a week of bouncing back and forth with her, but once I got the address, and mailed payment, they shipped quick

and damn nice workmanship,

I've got a handful of scopes, including an A5 Lyman, and a bubba'ed 1903,,

gonna make up a nice 1903 faux sniper as soon as I get a free moment

I didn’t even think about my bubba’ed 1903, I picked one up that was chambered in 6.5x284. I might just have to do that
