Man I'm getting dizzy looking at the options.....crazy! I've got a P226 I want to make a tweak on the rear sight.....anyone have a universal they have used with success? Have S&W's I'd like to be able to work on as well. Thanks Hiders

i just use a wooden dowel and a hammer.
Ahhh very good thanks! I like it not afraid of DYI. Never had this happen before you ever had a sight migrate? I've got probably 10k rounds through this thing it's just noticeably in the last year I'm compensating more and more. Funny looked down the other day and was thinking what the heck?! It's spent a ton of time on my hip in the woods banging around I guess at some point maybe nudged it a bit much? No ding marks and in a holster.....who knows. So you just pad the slide in a vice and gently nudge it with dowel/hammer?

interesting, never seen a sight migrate like that, at least on the handful or so i have. yeah just vise it up and bang on it. actually go from light tap to stronger as needed. if your sight moved with presumably little force, perhaps you need to peen it or something.

I'm thinking it never sat in there tight enough.....can't fathom how it moved that much.

    I use this

It looks primitive but it doesn't need to be anything special. Used it on Glocks, M&P, CZ, and 1911s. The only thing I do is cover the slide with tape so it doesnt mar the finish.
I had an M&P front site that would wander. Put some loctite in the dovetail before installing it. It will hold it. You can also stake it if you didnt want to loctite it.

I guess it makes sense if it's gonna wander to do it to the left from shooter POV right? Aren't the slots slightly narrower to the right...always install from left? Found a local guy on Sig forum who does a lot of work been through armorers course he's gonna move sight for me......has some other rear sight options may look at too. Thanks guys

I tried a few less expensive options with poor results, but the one that works on all of my guns is the "Wheeler Engineering Armorer's Sight Tool". Its built like a tank and can be adjusted to match any slide and both straight and angled sights. Runs about $130 on Amazon, but occasionally you can find it on sale from some of the major online guns supply stores.
