Well after a thousand rounds with it I guess its time to write a review on it.

A couple months ago I wanted a .308 semi-auto, so I put together a list of needs and wants. The REPR came out on top having all the features I needed and none I didn't. LWRC also had the option of getting the rifle in FDE that matched MagPuls, this was brand new for them at the time. It looked great in my opinion, so I had them put together a rifle I wanted. I however wanted something different than what they had available commercially, so I called and asked to have one assembled to my specifications. LWRCi were absolutely top notch in this department and went far above what I would expect even a great company to do as far as customer service. I'll be an LWRC customer for life. I talked with Rich Phoenix at LWRC, and he was great. I asked him countless questions and called him a lot to figure out what I wanted in a rifle. Rich explained that the guys from NIC industries were at the factory right then to figure out the new Flat Dark Earth color they were making to match magpuls exactly. I figured why not, and jumped on it. I didn't want a heavy 20" barrel though, so I asked if I could get an 18" with a few adjustments. Here's a list of the rifle parts I got.

18" Medium Contour barrel
Geissle Hi speed adjustable 2 stage
Magpul PRS FDE and the grip in FDE (They normally ship it black)
I also jumped on some ironsites at the last second, but these come standard anyways. I requested that my rails be left black as opposed to being FDE, and they complied with this too.

After a while using and operating with the charging handle I really like it. It allows me to charge the gun without coming off the scope, which is great for prone fire. The lack of unnecessary rails helps with its balance and I still like all the options they have for rail segments and sling cups.

I don't have any targets (I don't keep them, I have enough laying around the garage as is.) but the rifles an honest 3/4moa shooter with reloads. It performs better with Black Hills 175 than with FGMM 175 for me, while Black hills gets .75-1 fgmm gets .75-1.25.

I like the adjustable gas knob, although from the factory its supposedly hard to turn. I put some dry mil-tec lube in it from the start and it's stayed buttery smooth for the most part. I suspect I'll like it a lot more when I get my shark suppressor (shameless plug). I'm having David at shark make me one so look out for that in the future. I've left room for the suppressor in the case, above the scope. After running the gun on bolt mode for a couple rounds every now and then and its a lot easier to run accurately than it is going semi for me, and apparently other REPR shooters agree. Its not anymore accurate though, as the bullet leaves the barrel before the bolt carrier even moves away from it. (From LWRC, I have no way to test that.) Overall the piston system has run great with no flaws and extremely clean.

Here it is when I first got it. It came from the factory with a couple rail sections and a QD sling cup. I have since put another QD sling cup on the rifle that you'll see later on, and got some QD plates from Cascadia Arms for the PRS Stock which you can also see later on. The sling is a Larue tactical sling; on this gun it's great, quick easy adjustments and a big padded sling, what's not to like?
219.jpg

Here it is as it now sits.

Rifle optics are NF NXS 3.5-15X50 High speed Zero Stop MLR/mil adjustments. The scopes not light at 30oz, but the rifle unloaded with scope and bipod weigh 12 lbs. Pretty good considering some heavy barrel ARs get into the 18-20lb range. The mount is a Larue OSR(other term is censored) 20moa QD mount, and the thing is solid. I've never had it get back on target more than 3/8moa off where it was last, and most of the time its less than 1/4moa off which is hard to even see for me. If you run the levers until it gets the rail smooth and isnt taking material off everytime you use them the levers end up in around the same place everytime.

052.jpg

Of course a picture showing the charging handle.

044-1.jpg

Here's a picture up close of the work Todd Jackson of Manners Stocks(30 cal sniper here on the 'Hide.) did for me, everything tan sans the gun is cerakoted in Magpul Flat Dark Earth, that he mixed for me. I just had him do the scope and it turned out awesome. It's pretty cool that the laser engraved white on tan matches the laser engraved REPR logo on the gun, he did an awesome job. He also did the mount, bipod, and magazines.
064.jpg

Pelican case that I cut with a wire table which can be seen here. Click this. The case turned out awesome, I couldn't think of a thing I would have done differently. If you have any specific questions on that ask away. The foam fits nice and tight, without being a hassle to get out of the case. It doesn't have to look like a presentation case, but it sure is nice that it does. I left room for my shark suppressor (plug 2) above the scope, and it will fit perfectly when I get it.

areprshot.jpg

Here's the foam of the case without the gun and attachments in it to show you the lines the wire cutter did. For the horizontal scope turrets I took a hole saw and hand pressed it BACKWARDS into the foam. If you do it forwards it will rip the ever loving shit out of the foam and look terrible.

073.jpg

Heres a picture that I thought just turned out cool

042.jpg

Overall I'm very pleased with the rifle, its an honest 3/4moa shooter with reloads. It works great and runs extremely clean. Its light compared to other comparable semis. I'll be bringing it to Sean Littles class at Vapor Trail Tactical in March, and I'll make sure to get some pictures of it there. It'll definitely have the suppressor by then.

If you have any questions, just ask! And let me know what you guys think!

EDIT: figured I'd add a target I shot yesterday. The group on the top right was with the gas selector turned off.

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

Nice review! I have always loved the look of these rifles, and the side charging handle is a really nice feature.

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

Nice job on the rifle and case. Just out of curiosity, is there a reason you arranged the case in a way that requires the scope to be removed?

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

HOT.
I'm getting one of these cases in the next 10 days or so.. they look so good - built like tanks..used them for camera gear before.

That rifle is 5000% nice mate - loving that duracoat job on NXS

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

nice setup man. great review!

Re25 - negative the charging handle doesn't recipricate.

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

That sir is a very nice looking rifle. Congrats!!

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

Nice setup!

Been thinking to get good case as well for my AR10.

But why do you pack scope separately? I wouldn't want to check zero of my rifle every time.

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

Boss, that mother f@cker is hot hot hot! Makes me want one in a bad way......... I just keep reminding myself that it can be added to the "list" but there are other toys inline first.

Must pace myself.

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

Did they fix the oversize mag well issue? Does your pmag slop around like a BB in a boxcar?

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

Love the review, and the gun porn isnt a bad touch either. I want to trade in a couple of my rifles and get one.

Cerakote actually.

much more durable and much thinner in my experience.

I used a hot wire cutter I made that cuts it at 90 degrees, the link is in the original post I made that takes you to the build thread.

Economy of space. I would have had to get the next size up pelican if I wanted to fit everything I had in it and keep the scope on the rifle without putting it at risk to baggage monkeys. Also I didn't want a huge pelican to carry around everywhere. I've never had the scope be more than 3/4 off and its usually only a third of that. Usually meaning 9 out of 10 times.

The pmags go back and forth but not side to side. After a thousand rounds and not a single magazine related problem, or any problem for that matter, it is a non issue with me.

I love your rifle but i truly think you could have re-arranged your setup and not have to remove the scope every single time you want to carry your rifle. Those LT mounts only return to zero within 1MOA which is fine for some and at closer distances. But i would not want to rezero my rifle every time i was shooting long range and thinking i maybe 1 moa off.

For example, i would have the rifle at the bottom of the case and have the magazines cut in horizontally and not vertically. This would free up a lot more space. All that space between the muzzle and the scope is unused and that is where the magazines could have gone horizontally. And then by not having the scope there all the other accessories could have taken than spot. Just throwing some ideas. You can always just buy the foam for $30 and redo it if that i what you wanted to do.

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

That thing looks bad. I have an 18 inch REPR as well and have to say, it is a very well thought out rifle in terms if controls and features. They are extremely accurate for a battle rifle. The fit and finish of the rifle is outstanding.

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

Can't comment on the rifle because I've never shot one. I do like LWRC rifles though. I do own an M6A2 model. Its so reliable , its boring. What I can comment on is Sean Little and Vapor Trail Tactical. Sean is a GREAT guy with real world experience. There are alot of "high profile" guys out there with little experience who advertise themselves to be the "real deal" for the sake of marketing themselves to make a dollar. Sean is the exact opposite. Look up "silent professional" in the dictionary and there will be a picture of Sean. He's an excellent instructor with a tremendous depth and breadth of knowledge of long range shooting. Not to mention he's not an ass who thinks he's a know-it-all. I am happy and proud to call Sean a friend of mine...not to mention an instructor of mine. Sean's instruction and classes and instruction are second to none. If you want to learn from a BTDT guy without a shred of "I'm better than you" ego, than by all means, Sean and his company "Vapor Trail Tactical" are the place to go to learn.

Very nicely done!

Anyone know a good source for polyethylene foam?

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

After reading this I will be getting this rifle soon. However, I am going to get the 20" heavy barrel along with the 16" so that way i can have the best of both worlds and I am thinking about getting it in the flat dark earth as well. When I get it complete I will post my finding and i hope I can get it in time for a local tactical shoot as well.

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

I added a target in the first post I shot with the REPR. The group on the top right is with the gas selector turned to "off" and I had a bullet left over for the bottom left group.

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

Adician,

Very nicely done. Your rifle looks excellent!! I too have an 18" REPR and I love it! The fit & finish are unmatched, the accuaracy seems to be great so far, and LWRC's CS is top notch! With that being said, can you give the specs on that Pelican case? I really like the way you presented yours. My friend owns a case company and they deal in Pelican cases, as well as others. I would like to see if he has lost one lately... I have a Premier on top with NV (D-740) on the way. Do you think that would fit in your case?

Thank you,

Dusty

Hey Dusty, the Premier 3-15 is shorter than the NF3.5-15, so no worries on the length there. Also, the UBR in collapsed position is considerably shorter than the PRS stock. If you don't plan on running a suppressor you might even be able to get away with a 1700 as opposed to the 1720 I have. The best advice I can give is to lay out a piece of paper the size of the inside of the pelican, then lay out the gun and parts as you see fit until everything works the way you want. I had to separate the scope and gun to get everything I wanted in my case. I spent probably about a week getting everything the way I wanted to only because I had to find dimensions on parts I did not have, otherwise it would have been a few minutes.

PM me if you have any other questions, or just post 'em here if you think they'll help anyone else who comes across them.

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

Did you get the 10 or 11.25 twist? Awesome rifle!!!!!! It truly is a piece of art.

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

This really makes me want to paint my MWS. I really dig the contrast between the cerakote FDE and the plastic FDE. Not a 100% match, but thats what makes it look great, and thats the look I want.

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

Is the brass reloadable when it is shot out of this gun?

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

I got the 10 Twist and Kwak I posted an in detail answer in your thread, but short version yes very very reloadable.

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

Thanks for your post on the barrel twist? Who makes the bipod?

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

Who is the maker of your bipod? That looks so clean...I hate the springs on a Harris!

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

Props! thats one of the nicest and cleanest kits I've seen in awhile.

Personally I'd zero my optics and leave them mounted, just food for thought

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

I have a 20" REPR. Mine is a sub-moa shooter with 168 FGM and my reloads. Though I've only shot it out to 500 yds, and I was shooting into a 6-8" circle. I know that greater than 1 MOA but I wasnt doing my part.
The left side charging handle is brilliant. I wager, soon all heavy AR platforms will sport this.

The only criticism I have is that I have to disassemble the gas selector knob every 700 rds or so to clean, which I've only had to do once now. That knob becomes impossible to turn after about 200 rds. LWRC sent me a tool that I can use to turn it, but that only addresses the symptom.

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

Tomcat,

Have you tried using a dry lube on your gas adjuster? I use Hornady's Dry lube and it seems to do the job. I have less rounds through mine than you do; however, my adjuster locked up so bad after approximately 75 rounds that it took a 12" ratchet and 18 mm socket to break it loose. Since I have been using the dry lube, the adjuster has worked flawlessly.

Hope this helps,

Dusty

I thought they came with a few rail sections? Hope so, I've got an SPR ordered...but I can order some rail if I need to. Was thinking they came with a couple 2 inch rails and one slingmount/rail?

ETA: Read the OP again and noticed that it does come with the above. Cool.

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

sweet rig, i'm jealous

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

I'm a fan of black AR style rifles...just seems the way they are meant to be. BUT when I see a setup like this, WOW, Great job...on the rifle and the case. I really like when the foam is cut to fit everything but I've gone the easy route and have the Pelican 1700 and Storm iM3200 case for my rifles...both empty with soft cases inside.

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

12 pounds still sounds a little on the heavy side to me, but that is a beautiful setup! The photos are almost advertisement quality! Always great to see what happens when people pay attention to detail!

Re: Updated: LWRC Repr review! PICTURE HEAVY

1000 running 44.9 grains of varget behind 175 smks. It slows to subsonic right at around 1080 yards or so, but it'll hold moa out to 1100 and 3/5 of the time its around 3/4.

Of course a picture showing the charging handle.

Here's the foam of the case without the gun and attachments in it to show you the lines the wire cutter did. For the horizontal scope turrets I took a hole saw and hand pressed it BACKWARDS into the foam. If you do it forwards it will rip the ever loving shit out of the foam and look terrible.

Heres a picture that I thought just turned out cool

Overall I'm very pleased with the rifle, its an honest 3/4moa shooter with reloads. It works great and runs extremely clean. Its light compared to other comparable semis. I'll be bringing it to Sean Littles class at Vapor Trail Tactical in March, and I'll make sure to get some pictures of it there. It'll definitely have the suppressor by then.

If you have any questions, just ask! And let me know what you guys think!

EDIT: figured I'd add a target I shot yesterday. The group on the top right was with the gas selector turned off.

Very nice gun and great review.
Just one question, how did you have the scope caps sprayed like that? almost like a "ghost" effect.
Thanks
