I'm toying with upgrading my current action from a origin to a TL3 and using the origin to build a nice trainer/ hunting rig. I know I'm not going to gain a huge advantage over the origin but there are a few things i like about the tl3. I also keep playing with a curtis but I think I'll keep the action compatible.

Other than an action wrench there isn't much compatible, parts wise, between a tl3 and an origin. You won't gain much going to a tl3 but if that's what you want then it's a great option. I also wouldn't rule out any other actions based on parts compatibility because nothing else other than another origin would be the same.

If I run the hunts long range lug on the origin it'll headspace the same as the tl3 or I can just run savage prefits on both of them. I also believe the bolt heads are interchangeable between them.

TL3 if you want to spec options mag cut, Port side and such and want integral recoil lug.

You can also use same shouldered barrels if you get Ryan hunts recoil lug for origin that would be cool to be able to switch back and forth. With tl3 shouldered barrels

I’ve handled a few tl3’s and they felt really good.

    Never played with origin

Another origin if your happy with it

True about the barrels but bighorn's website asks for what action the bolt heads are for so I assume there must be a difference. I've never owned, only handled a tl3, but so far my origin has been great.

So far I'm liking the origin, but I played around with a DLC'd tl3 and it was pretty damn sweet. I've heard good things about the axioms and the 60* throw might be nice along with the roller tripped cocking piece.

I'm not quite in the same boat. Have had a TL2 for years and have a Origin
The feel of the TL is much more solid and smoother than the Origin, but that's the
price difference you pay for. I can interchange my shouldered barrels between the two.
I don't see any accuracy difference between the two.
Like I mentioned, the smoothness and solid feeling of the TL is about the only thing
I can mention that's noticeable over the Origin.

Two origins here. Didn't make sense to me to spend 50% more for the TL3. Heck, $1250 for the TL3 vs $1650 for two Origins. But thah also depends on your configuration. If you're just going to order medium tang etc, just get another origin and put the extra $400 elsewhere on the build or in ammo.

TL3 and Origin bolt heads are the same. The coating changed on the TL3 bolt heads to what the Origin has had on it since inception so we're moving old inventory XX3 bolt heads (CrN coated). That's why there's a designation for action in that area. In time, that will be removed completely.

Other than bolt bodies, firing pins and rails, the actions use the exact same parts as a whole and with the HLR recoil lug (mentioned above), head space is the same between the two.
