So, I finally picked up an Atlas, though the V7 here used. Took it out the first day. I have to say I do like having the legs forward for a "longer" pivot point. Also it is built tough. I also like the swivel, tilt, and pan. Getting the legs out is a bit cumbersome and not as easy. There is also more play in the legs that I am used to.

So is it worth sending in for the upgrade to V8? or justing keeping as is. Does the V8 fix the nit-picks I have of the V7? How much is it going for anyway? Thanks!!

Leg extension is easier with the V8. There's a lip on the ring to make it easier to pull down. The play in the legs is one of the things that makes the Atlas great, in my opinion. It lets the bipod "ride" the recoil easier.

You are a little off. The V8 added push button leg swivel and the V8.1 added it lip on the leg extension collar.
