I have a USO on my Rem 700. its been rock solid for me. No complaints here.

I have USO bases on two 700 SAs (a 204 and a 308). Both were perfect fit and are rock solid. I just added one to a Cooper. You would be hard pressed to find a better base. They are all I use for anything that goes on top of a receiver.

USO makes quality stuff and rock tough, and if you have a problem, they sure stand behind it.

looks like EGW went to stronger aluminum 7075 over 6061 on their new line.
USO offers 6061t6 (not sure what the t6 designation is but I bet it is stronger than regular 6061

I think so. I was on my way to Wyoming to teach a course and stopped by to pick up a 20MOA base. They ended up staying late because I was stuck in traffic and then drilled it out for the 8-40 screws I was using. They didn't have to do that but it meant the world to me and I was able to have my rifle for the course without having to drive all over Wyoming looking for a gunsmith.

I have a EGW that has been perfect. Fit perfectly on a rem s/a and has held up fine to several thousand rounds of .308. One day I will pick up a Badger or USO but kind of hard to justify it when the EGW has worked fine.

My US Optics base has never had any issue. When I called to get instruction on how to DIY it(i was a serious newb) John II about beat John III's head taking the phone to talk me through it. He always managed to get the phone from 'junior' when I called any other time too with questions.
JBWIII is one hell of a good guy and his stuff is top shelf. Customer service is also outstanding as well.

My one experience with a USO base was a no go due to it being out of spec. Try Farrell Industries instead.

EGW makes good stuff, as does night force, USO, etc.
The question that should be asked is "Aluminum or Steel" to avoid "indents" in it from heavy recoiling rifles.
Steel is the answer in that case, especially if you're going to put steel rings on, steel rings on an AL base is foolish.
