US869 and 300 Win Mag

I'm out of the H1000 and looking for a good starting point with US869 and the 300 WM. Using the 208 ELD-M bullet and hoping for the 2950 f/s range. What would be a good starting point powder weight?

Is that for the 50? Maybe fill the case to bottom of the neck.

Hodgdon lists 85g max with 200 Nosler partition, 83.5 with 230 Beger. Don't have 208 data, had my Hornady manual sitting here, but it doesn't have 869 data.

Well, 869 is a few steps slower than WC857, so I'd venture to say you're probably gonna start at like 70-72 and won't be able to get enough powder in that case to get the velocities you want.

Out of curiosity, I ran it in quickload. It read 50KSI with a 108% charge with a long-seated Sierra 240 HPBT match. Velocity was nothing spectacular either.

I've used WC860 military BMG powder in .338 Edge. I've run a FULL case of WC860 behind Sierra and Berger 300gr projectiles (~105gr of powder) and was just getting up to max pressure and achieved 2700fps. Both velocity and accuracy were better with 10% less Retumbo. I'd be surprised if you'd be happy with US869 in .300 Win Mag.

Back from range withe the 300WM. Tried US869 cause H1000 has vanished from the free world. Use Federal military brass, 208 ELD-M and 250M primers. Couple of loads were under .5 MOA but velocity had a large spread. Crono was a Labrader. Even at the largest loads, no pressure signs. Will save US869 for the 338 Lapua Mag

Can you find 7977, 4000mr, 4831, RL 22, 25, or 26? I think there is another IMR endured powder in the 4831 range. All will get you more velocity than 869.

All powders locally have dried up temporary. Have some Ramshot Mag being shipped in. Time to start over.
