First go around was decidedly to the advantage of the Enfield purely on rate of fire. I'd like to have seen a longer range competition between the Springfield and the Enfield as while the sights were about the same, the Springfield may have had an advantage in accuracy.

I wonder how our M 1917, in Gunny's hands, would compete with the SMLE Mk I

The English guy was very polite in overlooking he Gunny's statement about "Back in 1900, the 30-06 was the first round that came up with smokeless powder"

Hell, I wouldn't attempt to correct him, he might punch me in the stomach and give me a horrible, permanent nickname
