My .308 Rem 700 is in the shop getting a new barrel and misc work from Bartlein Barrels.

F -Class match coming up 300, 500, 600 yds (all prone) and no rifle.

Have an 1984 Oly Arms 5.56 (marked on bbl) - match grade 'SUM' barrel 1/11 twist*. (supposedly the SUM barrels are .25 moa)
Can sight it in and match it to a Leupold BR 25 (1/8 adjustments) power scope. Not sure I can make the elevation changes needed on the BR scope for 600 yds either

Looking at getting some Black Hills match grade 52gr .223 and try to shoot the match.

Looked at borrowing a rifle, but all the other shooters going to this match.

Thanks for taking a look!

* ULTRAMATCH BARRELS
These barrels are our most accurate barrels, and quite frankly, these are the most accurate AR-15 barrels on the market. These barrels have Broach-cut Rifling. What is that you say? Well, broaching is the method used to create the lands and grooves. For these barrels, we use the stamping "SUM" which means Stainless Ultra Match. SUM barrels are all chambered with minimum SAAMI 223 Remington reamers. These barrels can also be identified by looking down the bore. All of our broach-cut or Ultramatch barrels have only 4 lands and 4 grooves.

Yeah, if you already own it, go for it. Anybody got a recommendation for a budget friendly 20 moa or adj. optics mount, in case the scope doesn't have enough adjustment?

E.T.A. found a Variable Gantry Mount, at $350-$400 may not be "budget".

Easy problem to fix. Just remove the Fh or comp. Problem solved.

I'm sure you'll have to rezero your gun with it off but no big deal, I have bolt action guys who do the same thing. They run a brake or suppressor most of the time and when a comp comes up that they can't use it on they'll remove it and put a thread protector on and go shoot.

Now if your Fh or comp is pinned or welded on, well then that might be a problem.

Thanks!

No, not welded or pinned, it will unscrew and come off.

Will take it down and sight it in at 100 yd, then try at 200. Not sure I will have time to get a 20 moa base and install it for elevation at 600 yds.
Don't want to over turn the elevation adjustment on the scope. All 1/8" adjustments for the BR-25 so 2x the usual adjustments or more for .223 vs .308.

Thank you,
