Suppressors Using 7.62 suppressor adapter on 6.5, issues?

I recently got my replacement Surefire 300 SPS, and since then have got into the 6.5 CM game.

A rather silly question I have is, can I safely use a 7.62 brake adapter on my 6.5 with the can? I am well aware that SF offers a 6.5 brake, but I have a few 7.62 brakes laying around and really don't want to buy another if I don't have to.

I have checked the combo with an alignment rod and it is perfect. Is there any issues with doing this I am not seeing? Destabilization? POI shift?

As long as the threads are correct and the diameter of the suppressor is larger than the diameter of the bullet ... you're fine. I have several rifles that I suppress that way. Oh, and make sure your suppressor is "multi-caliber" ... don't know anything about that brand.

You can use it on anything with less muzzle pressure than it's rated for.

As long as you're running reasonable length barrels I doubt you could ever damage it.

It is a 24" barrel, and it is rated to 300 WM, so no worries there. I was mainly just wondering if the oversized bore of the brake could have any effect on the bullet as it leaves.

I shot it this morning, and oddly, there is a POI shift directly right ranging from 1-1.5". I find this odd because every suppressor I own usually shifts down, or down and somewhat horizontal. Never seen just a straight shift to the right before.

When I tried my 30cal can on a 6.5 Creedmore the shift was about 2" down and 3" right. Groups went from 1/2-3/4 to 3"+. Haven't had the same thing happen when just using a 30 cal brake. That combo seems to work just fine.

Interesting. My groups have pretty much stayed the same size wise, although I wasn't shooting great (too much coffee and I can screw up a good group on a good day).

Shooting Hornady American Gunner 140 bthp, gave a 1.5" shift right with the 300 SPS with a slightly larger group (again, probably me).
Federal 140 fusions the rifle obviously didnt care much for, but only produced about a 1" shift right.
No elevation shift.

I only tried the combo 1 time due to a damaged ego. Now that I'm all healed up I'm going to give it another go. Run a couple of different loads and see if that changes things. Problem easily could have been operator malfunction.

I definitely need to hit the reloading bench. Besides the price and availability of ammo, this is motivating.

Got some Lapua brass, Nosler 140 RDFs and H4350 to try.
