I was only able to find one post on this so please bear with me. For those of you using the ST-10 I was wondering how necessary the ERGO upgrade is. I will be shooting primarily 500yds and in (200yds usually), but occasionally longer if the opportunity arises. If it is not necessary, at what range should I ask the parallax be fixed at?

    Thanks in advance.

I had a ST-10 and I used it on my 300wsm from 100 to 1200yds. For my shooting I used the AO quite often and if I were to buy another I would get the upgrade.
From 100 to 600 yds I didn’t have to change it very often and I pretty much left it set on 200 when I was hunting.
The ST-10 was a very stout scope and I really liked it. The MOA type 1 was too thick for my liking and I ended up selling it to another SH member. Hope this helps you.

It is not so cut and dried as some might suggest. A few data points to consider:

The parallax can be set by USO to what you want. It can be re-set with relative ease.

You can play with the reticle/eyepiece focus within a range where the reticle is still sharp and have a pretty dramatic effect on the down range image, meaning make a further away image appear more crisp while the reticle is still in focus and usable.

My last 3 USOs have been fixed 37mm ST-10s and I am ordering more. Think about it - you can get USO quality, durability, and customer service, matching knobs and reticle, the EREK, a reticle of your choosing, in a scope that is about the price of a Mark 4 Lupy fixed 10x. So far they have worked great on everything from my SPR as a type III optic to my 50 which is used at 1k+ to my medium weight bolt action 223 build. They just flat work. AND they work the same as my 3.2-17s at a fraction of the cost.

I'd definately recommend the ERGO. My 37mm ST10 was the clearest USO I've had.
It went in on a trade in from moa/moa to mil/mil is the only reason that the above sentence is past tense......

Another thing to consider is resale. If it has the AO that is a plus. There have been 3-4 ST10,s for sale that I would have bought except no AO. So-got a new one!! barry

Yeah I was looking at trying to come up with something that looked somewhat along the lines of a MST-100. I'll be trying to put a rifle together that somewhat resembles an M40A1, but it won't be too close since I haven't got that kind of money to spend on a project like that.

I guess 37mm obj with ERGO will be where its at.
