V3 FX120i trickler problems

The trickler part of the system isn't working properly. Sometimes it will trickle normally. Other times it trickles slowly and it often won't trickle any powder at all.

I think the H4350 powder I'm using is getting clogged in the hole at the back of the trickler straw.

Has anyone else had this problem? Should I try to enlarge the hole, or is there a better solution?

I would reach out to Adam, he's very responsive to emails: [email protected]

With that said, have you checked the connections in the back of your unit? Loose? Frayed? Have you checked the +/- lever? Have you made sure to check the level of the trickler?
I second that. Of the one time I had to contact Adam, he was VERY quick to get back to me.

FWIW, I throw a lot of H4350 and have zero issues. V3/fx120i is dreamy. Particularly Blutooth control.

I found that by slightly tilting the dispenser tube up (higher at the discharge end as compared to the dispenser end) via the adjustment screws in the base, that solved any initial problems I was having.

Have you experienced any issues using the scale in a garage with no a/c?
I've used mine both inside the house and inside a garage (with H4350) and haven't had any "clogging" issues. If the trickler is not dispensing at all, have you made sure to set the target weight on the thrower about 2 grains lower than your target? If the thrower placed the initial throw within 1.5 gr, the trickler may not ramp up correctly.

Yes the trickler works properly in that the straw turns, but hardly any powder comes out.

It works fine one day, but the next time I use it, I have to adjust it again to get it to dispense powder.

Auto throw is set to about 1.5 gr below target.

I don't believe it is.

According to the manual, you have it reversed. I always wondered if it made a difference.
Pointing at the loop that faces away from the unit. It’s outside the loop, yours is inside.

V3 does not matter which way the pulley is placed. Page 1 of the V3 manual. This was a change from V2.

I don’t store powder in the autothrow/trickler. It always goes back into the original container.

I get crazy velocity swings (using same lot of components), and I think it's because I leave the powder in the V3.

The V3 scale always agrees with my RCBS beam scale.

Adam did get back to me. He said to dump the powder out of the trickler and not to let it sit. It could be what's causing the blockage.

Most people that i have talked to have not made the fine adjustment on the back of the fx120I scale. Read your manual fully. Not only do you adjust the angle of the auto trickler you also have to adjust the scale. Secondly read the manual to the scale. It needs to be on for about 30 minutes before you load. The scale will heat up.
