VA fix

I was on vacation last week with my family in Orlando Florida. I woke up with a sore throat and some spots on my tongue and throat. I called the local VA clinic. After the preliminary call 911 and suicide hot line deal I was directed to enter my ssn. When I did it replied that I entered an invalid number and to re enter the number. After five times and no way to talk to a real live human I called the local VA hospital. I was told I could go to the clinic and go thru enrollment and wait for an appointment which was not likely to happen. Second option was to visit the ER at the hospital and sit all day waiting to be seen. I went to a local walk in clinic and saw a doctor in 15 minutes, had several tests done, and a prescription written. Walked next door to Pharmacy and had it filled. Under 2 hours everything taken care of. Cost $150 total. Doctor at the clinic said it was a shame that I could not just show them my card and be covered. She said that she sees many Veterans due to wait times at local facilities.

You guys should be able to go to any doctor or facility and be taken care of in short order. This fiasco is bullshit and our vets deserve better. This is totally unacceptable and we , the people need to do something about it. Sorry , had to rant abit.

My wifes civilian doctor always asks how I am doing before I leave each time, and if I need anything. He does any quick things that need to be checked out, and has even written me prescriptions at no charge. He used to work for the VA and feels that any little bit he can do helps.

Ive just got sick of the bs that goes with going to Va. I always use my personal insurance thru my union. In my small brain I feel like im saving the money or time gap that could be used by another vet without personal insurance.

The VA wont be fixed, its been broken for over 60 years. People have been dying from neglect for that long too. Look how long it took them to admit about agent orange problems. Until they actually have enough staff to treat the number of patients it will continue to be a problem. That and until they get off this points for bonus system, where you get bonuses based on how quickly you churn out patients.

The VA has admitted there is an agent orange problem? Hmmmm, not in the Montana branch of the VA.

First thing I wish everyone that served the best and thank you for your service and none of us deserve the BS we have been getting for years! I call it a money grab from high ranking VA officials as mentioned they said this is not about money but it is all about money and who can get it first! My local VA Hospital in ABQ is under investigation and it's pretty pathetic what they do to Vets here as I just stopped going to the place as they have been noted for killing people every day! They trie killing me and I told them if you can not fix me I will carry my ass down town and get fixed which is exactly what happened! Civilian Cardiologist found 2 blocked veins in my heart and installed stents as they were 93 & 95% blockages that the VA did not even care about looking for! I told my Gulf War Dr basically to do his job or I was gone and he threatened me with a urine test and said I was on heroin and I waited for the bottle which never came back with him so I walked out and filled out a change of provider form and told them why! I had a different Dr in like 2 weeks but I took a long look at what was going on and moved my Primary Care to a place that had a urgent care program since I was rated 100% Service Connected! Being on SSA disability is the way to go as Medicare pays for everything first then Tri Care for Life picks up the rest and you pay nothing after that! I understand people can't get the VA to give them proper ratings which is BS as I have had the same issues! Long story short if ya wanta live do not go to the VA!! Do everything you can do to see a real Dr that cares! PM me if ya need any answers as I will be glad to help anyone with questions! But leave the VA as they will kill you !!
