VA Governor - Will the left abandon him?

I agree with this!

And we'll get the answer when the 'left' decides if his successor is a progressive whack-job or a conservative (aka mainstream) democrat. If Northam's successor is a complete progressive whack-job, then the left will give Northam the flick in a heartbeat.

The party will do the political math. Can Northam's successor win the next election? Can he push the agenda? Is he going to be controllable? Does he have skeletons? They are researching as fast as they can (at least the blackface/KKK question is moot... the Lt. Gov. is an African-American). But if the new candidate is not going to be politically-acceptable to the left, darn right they will support Northam. And so will the media which will receive a series of phone calls from their 'sources' (aka political handlers... ranging from the DNC to Media Matters)... and they will toe the line.

And, yes, Powers... the hypocrisy is strong in these ones. How many Robert Byrd buildings are there... but Civil War statues must be taken down. There are "Kennedy" monuments everywhere, even though they were womanizing, drugged, drinking, Nazi-spying, skiing-into-trees, babysitter-porking, clubbing-women-to-death-with-golf-clubs, flying into the ocean bootleggers... but hey, they were LIBERAL scum. So they should be lionized.

Again... Marx/Engels, Bernase, Goebbels, Alinski, they all spelled it out. No secrets. they told us what their followers were going to do. And did it! Yet people dismissed it as the ravings of fringe people. Mein Kampf was a best seller... it spelled out 1939 - 1945 in vivid detail. Nothing was hidden. Why should we think that the writings of obscure university professors who are advocating for exterminating 90 percent of the human race.. are any less valid? But they are masked in an green agenda... and cute polar bears. And they are good educated 'liberal' professors. So their ideas must be good!

Cheers,

Sirhr

Excellent post. This is interesting as the LT. Gov is an African American. Now, the Commonwealth does not allow the Governor to serve to consecutive terms; however, if the Governor resigns and the Lt. Gov takes over.... since he did not run for Gov and was "promoted" will the Constitution allow him to run?

I don't know the answer to this... I will research; however, this may be a ploy and benefit analysis of the Left-Dems to lock the Governorship for 9 years. Plus what is happening in the General Assembly... Virginia could permanently and (quite predicted) finally turn blue quicker than pundits predicted.

EDIT: The Constitution just says the Governor may not serve Consecutive terms as to what he was elected.... thus, there may be a chance that the LT. Gov could then run as Governor after serving as Acting Governor.... if this is the case, you can bet they will toss Northam aside without a thought.

I dunno. Talking to the democrats I know, they're none-too-happy to hear about his yearbook shenanigans. Oddly enough, this dude talking about comforting a newborn baby before killing it didn't seem to bother them too much.

EXACTLY. They're more concerned about blackface than murdering a newborn child.

"I am not either of those people in that photo,” Northam told media gathered at the Executive Mansion, referring to the image of a person dressed in blackface and another in a Ku Klux Klan robe on his yearbook page. Northam said Friday was the first time he’d seen the photo, which he called “shocking and horrific.” But he alluded to other actions in his past, and disclosed that in 1984 he won a dance contest in San Antonio where he wore dark shoe polish on his cheeks as part of a Michael Jackson costume.

(...)His explanation runs counter to his public apology Friday, when he acknowledged that he appeared in what he called a “clearly racist” image. "My first instinct is to reach out and apologize because this was so hurtful,” he said. “After I did that, I had a chance to reach out to classmates and my roommates and I am convinced, that’s not my picture.”

(...)Two classmates of Northam’s at Eastern Virginia Medical School said Saturday that they had never seen him in costumes like those that appear in the photo on his yearbook page. However, they were at a loss to explain how a mix-up might have occurred that would result in the racist image being placed on his page in error, because students were responsible for submitting their own photos.

He now denies being in the photo and he refuses to resign. Politicians are lying scum!

Apparently, the handlers think he will ride this one out! Political calculations made... friendly media onboard.

This will be gone in a week. Northam will, however, be beholdin to those who saved him.

No surprise.

Cheers,

Sirhr

One things for sure, he wont be telling the truth about DemCommunist goals to kill kids anymore.

All his future statements will be cleared through the ministry of truth first.

Virginia Democrat Gov. Ralph Northam said on Saturday that he was not sure why friends called him “coonman” in college.
Northam became inflamed in controversy on Friday after a medical school yearbook photo emerged showing two individuals in blackface and Ku Klux Klan (KKK) attire on his page. Northam took responsibility for the controversial photo but said on Saturday that he believes that he does not appear in the picture and does not have any plans to resign.
CBS News uncovered a page from Northam’s yearbook at Virginia Military Institute (VMI) that had nicknames under his name, which includes “Coonman,” a racial slur.
Breitbart TV

During the press conference, Northam said that many friends often called him “Goose” due to his changing voice; however, he does not know why some college friends called him “Coonman.”
“I don’t know what their intent was with that,” Northam said during the press conference.
Northam said that he never wore a KKK robe, nor has he ever been a member of the KKK.
Northam did admit to darkening his face with shoe polish for a dance contest in the 1980s.
“That same year, I did participate in a dance contest in San Antonio, in which I darkened my face as part of a Michael Jackson costume… It is because my memory of that episode is so vivid that I truly do not believe I am in the picture in my yearbook,” Northam said.

"That same year, I did participate in a dance contest in San Antonio, in which I darkened my face as part of a Michael Jackson costume.... It is because my memory of that episode is so vivid that I truly do not believe I am in the picture in my yearbook." - Ralph Northam

One reporter during the press conference even asked him if he can moonwalk, to which his wife dismissed the idea and said that the instance served as an inappropriate circumstance to show off his dance moves.

Ralph Northam is asked if he can still moonwalk. He looks around as if he’s about to try it. His wife looks over and says, “Inappropriate circumstances.” Northam agrees, and moves on to another question.

Northam said that he will continue to wade through the controversy and suggested that it might help spark a national conversation over racism in America.
“If I were to listen to the voices calling on me to resign my office today, I could spare myself from the difficult path that lies ahead. I could avoid an honest conversation about harmful actions from my past,” said Northam.

Funny that the Republicans spent $22 million on that race and their expert consultants failed to find that picture in a public yearbook. You can bet the Left does opposition research.

Still, why the big deal? The Republicans should say that an un-PC photo from 35 years ago doesn't matter because it was and is harmless and never grovel or apologize the next time dirt comes out on one of theirs.

You gotta be kidding me - he's saying this is the first time he's seeing this and that's not him on HIS PERSONAL PAGE in a med school yearbook?

Gotta side with @ArmyJerry on this one - I hate these people. I can tolerate someone with differing views if they have a reason for believing what they believe, but this is inexcusable. And the media will give him a free pass.

Buy more ammo.

And magazines.

Unless your weapon uses "clips"

Yea, I'm sure resigning and taking a huge pay cut into obscurity for being a chucklefuck is the easier path. What entitlement it must take to formulate this logic. Translation: "Instead of owning something that I have said I can't live down, I will be continuing to take your money as I guide the moral and political landscape of my dominion. Because to end up where I really belong, that is, not in politics— would be too easy."

I'd be willing to bet a beer that it was intentional... at least semi-intentional. In other words, rush to judgement, no process to back check. Everyone there not going to question it. And 'knowing' that the apology won't get nearly the coverage in people's brains as the 'later' retraction.

Implant it up front... and it stays forever. Try and change it later... and the imprint is still there.

There is another great book from the advertising world. Must read in the Psy Ops world... wonder if anyone still reads it. Called "Positioning: The Battle for the Mind." It shows how, once a thought is established in a brain, it is very hard to displace. Because people mentally position things and once set... they are set. It's sort of the psychologists' version of the old saw that "First impressions are lasting ones."

Yes, they are.

If your process at CNN is to blame Republicans First... apologize later, then it's because they are positioning. So maybe this was an innocent error, but was deeply reflective of an overall strategy to be the voice of the resistance. And therefore... an easy mistake to make when you are positioned as the voice of the left.

I bet, if you do some digging, you find that CNN either has staff psychologists or has hired consultants to put this whole positioning thing into action. CNN is a giant business as well as a 'news-tertainment' outlet. If they think they are going to make their money/ratings... aka money by serving a certain segment... then that is how they will focus everything from headlines to hiring. There is nothing 'newsy' about news. It's about persuasion and propaganda.

Cheers,

Sirhr

So I was wrong above... Reading the overnight coverage on this... the guy is officially dead meat.

Bet he resigns during Super Bowl or sotu so at to avoid the coverage.

The pile on after his denial... which was retarded, is epic. And, yes, the usual cast of characters is there protesting.

Guess the Lt. Gov struck a better deal! Very Wag the Dog! So much for this Dem rising star.

Hope there is a run on archived H.S yearbooks now. Especially leftist ones!

Cheers, Sirhr

Side thought:

I am honestly disgusted with the new abortion laws that have been introduced but I guess you can find a silver lining in a very cynical way. 99% of the people who would choose to do such a heinous thing are Democrats. The left, if given their way, would only be killing off their future base of voters bc we know the left only breeds more lefties. I can see that as a bonus. It's not like the productive, tax paying, patriotic citizens will be committing infanticide like the left. They may very well legislate their own demise.

Saw a bit of George Steponmypus giving fair cover/excuses this morning.
Being a cynic I'll believe it when I see it.

It's turning into quite the comedy for the left.
They screamed "RESIGN" and he said, "No Thanks".
Now they're not quite sure what to do. Nobody has stood up to them in this manner before.

If he resigns he forfeits about $4,000 / month in pension.

He has nothing to lose by standing firm.
I don't like the fucker, but next in line is even a bigger turd.
Interesting to watch play out, and maybe it's time someone did stand up to the assholes and say "No".

Be nice if he stood up with some common sense and balls though.

"Hey this was 30 plus years ago, different time and place, back when the country was less PC"

Prefer that to the out right deny game.

but he is a turd and watching them all squirm is replacing the comedy lost since the commies have become the arbiters of speech, fun and (im)morality

Another sacrificial lamb thrown to the zealots.
As they claim another they'll be emboldened next "crisis".
Enjoyable all the same.
