Gents,
My great uncle, Bill Burns, USMC vet, WWII is in need of assistance. HE is currently in hospital down there. My Pop will handle anything he can from Nor-Co and his neice will handle So-Cal issues.
Bill's War, circa 1982, September as told to me when I graduted 'Hollywood', 3070, 3BN, Ooh Rah!:
"Heh heh heh, so you want to hear my war story huh? Well since you're a Marine I guess I can tell it now. We were landing on Tarawa. The Japs were laying down a lot of fire on us, but we had bombarded that rock for days before we went in. I was leading my squad up the beach and a big ol arty round landed behind me tossing me up into the air and landing on my face several feet away with shrapnel in my ass. Son, that was my war, and that is my story. I spent the rest of the war recuperating from that and got out stateside to learn a trade. Now hand me that Jim Beam and lets have a drink to the Corps!"

He is in hospital from issues that have arisen with age. He is also 100% Disabled. What I need to forward to my Pop, and Auntie Glenda is some contact information with WHO, and WHERE they can go for VA assistance in their area. If Pop hits it up in So-Co, CA he can get it down to Glenda and she should be able to handle it form there. We just need someone in the AO who knows WTF is going on in this area and a subject matter expet would be greatly appreciated.
I know with over 7k members somone knows this AO.

I'm a bit confused about the situation though. Is he in the regular civilian hospital in Hemet or is he from the Hemet area and is now in Loma Linda VA? If he is 100% disabled, I am not sure why he isn't being transferred to the Loma Linda VA hospital for continued care.

If none of these pan out, let me know. I have a few contacts still left in Hemet RS when I was there on Recruiting duty and they might know some better resources. I'll try to find out if SSGT Moreno is still at the USMC Recruiting station in Hemet ( next door to the Army), if anything, maybe he can go pay an old Marine a visit and lift his spirits.

Thanks man, much appreciated. I only knew he was in hospital as of the first of the week when my Pop let me know. I'll forward all this to him and have him get it to Glenda. I don't know his VA status or anything like that because that is one parent grade above my level

I am only checking my networks for the information we need so I can get it to them. This should help a lot. I'll keep you posted here if this works for us, or go offline if we need further assistance

Re: VA rep Hemmet, CA AO, NEED ASSISTANCE ASAP!

Sitting here in Riverside County Regional.
We send ALL our Vets there. Loma Linda is a good facility too.

Only reasons I can see that they're keeping him is that he's too unstable for transport, it's a lower-level echelon of care, there is no bed available for him.

Call over to Hemet and ask why he cannot be transferred.
They certainly send a good deal of their patients to us.

I sent the info to my Pop so hopefully they can get something done. Bill is a great guy, introduced me to my first taste of Bourbon...sometime after I got out of diapers and decided to pour some for him one evening as the story goes,"Daddaaaaa, I'm BILL!" "Richard, get that ***Damn kid outta my Beam!"
