My three nephews probably buck the trend for their age-group and demographic these days, but I thought some of you might find it interesting how all of them are committed to the 2nd Amendment and gun ownership. My nephews range in age from 30 to 41. The youngest is mostly into hunting, though he also owns and shoots a .308 target rifle and an AR. The oldest is a serious competitive shooter who very subtly convinced me to get my first AR a few years ago, and the third is mostly interested in self-defense and shoots rifles, shotguns and handguns for that purpose. Granted, the first two grew up with guns and continued a family tradition of sorts. The self-defense oriented nephew mostly got into shooting via encouragement from the other two.

Each of their fathers are either gun enthusiasts themselves or at least did not have any deep-seated prejudice against gun ownership. Their mothers, though all of them being solid, long-time Democrat voters, did not discourage their son's intererst in guns, and two of the mothers are gun owners themselves. My one niece also mostly votes Democrat but has a concealed carry permit and she enjoys recreational shooting. We don't have big arguments about politics in my family and most of us try to live and let live as far as that goes, and that includes the Covid-19 issue.

Granted, this is all anecdotal information with a very small sample size, and all of us in my family are multi-generational Texans, so there's that. Still, I thought some of you might find this encouraging. In my extended family, I'm easily the most outspoken advocate for shooting and gun rights, while the rest of my family pretty much fly under the radar and keep their opinions to themselves. I'll bet this situation is more common than not across the country, so don't let yourselves get too discouraged about where everyone stands on gun ownership; it's probably more complicated than you might realize.

Then I remind them that's what they did with this vaccine. Most will want to argue the facts, but I tell them they must know the facts BEFORE they argue with me.

I've had it with this holier than thou attitudes when they get all of their information from CNN.

To end the conversation, I mention that if the country had listened to Trump, over the counter medication could had prevented many deaths, they I make comment on how the Demwit mayors were the cause of 100,000 deaths by putting Covid patients in nursing homes.

By now, they've had enough and walk away.
