I've had a Remington 700 Police 308 sitting in my gun safe for almost two years and I just haven't had the funds to put a scope on it with all the other projects I have going. So I've been thinking of listing it here or taking to a shop locally to see what I can get.

I know they sell on here quite often but this is never fired. I've had a tactical bolt knob installed and put a 0-moa rail on it. Between the gun and everything I have about $950 in it as the rifle itself was like $865.

Can I get close to that or just keep it and eventually put a nice piece of glass on it??

id keep it unless you need the money. there are a lot of used scopes in the classifieds. not all are high dollar. you could be shooting it sooner than you think

Actions are worth about $400-450 with that knob on there, depending how it was installed, take off HS P stocks are running about $200. Barrel's worth price of shipping to someone that will take it. Bottom metal is worth about $40-50.

I think you're going to take a bath on the thing if you sell it complete or in component form. There are custom built, unfired rifles sitting for weeks with consistent price drops over and over again. One that recently comes to mind is a $4500 tube gun that the seller couldn't move for 60% of that.

Not a good time to be a seller. Axeman's advice is probably what I'd suggest too, save some money for a bit and keep your eyes on the used scope listings here.

I have an older one but have to say:
SPS 450 bucks
P take-off stock 200 buck
Rail 100 bucks?

I'd keep it. I don't think you could get the cash back. Good luck with it.

If you look into my posts I would have to agree. I had a few very low rd count semi customs ( all rem 700 in police/pss or ltr configurations)for sale recently. One was a 700p in 308 that had a few hundred dollars easily in desireable upgrades, the receiver was opened to 8x40 base screws, canted leupold mk 4 base, painted, bedded hs stock, with cavity filled and a better grind to fit pad installed, reworked factory trigger to 2lbs by a local smith, and ceracoated steel badger m4 bottom metal. ( I figured a pretty good deal for someone starting out) Had a few loads already worked for it in popular weights to include hunting bullets and it was a proven .4-.5 5 shot group rifle, consistent if I wasnt having one of thse days.
all I got was low balled and trade offers for lower end rifles/ pistols and very little cash.

all my rifles went back into the safe to bring smiles to me at a later time.. If you dont need to sell it. I say keep it.. and build it when life lets you.. Good luck

Used is used, even if it isn't.

A dealer will want to make 30% on it. So he's certainly not going to offer you what he can get new ones for at cost. You'll be lucky to get $600 from a dealer.

+1 on used is used, a guy, cant remember his name was selling one on our fire arms forum here on the hide, i think he got 600+shipping, ide hold on too unless you don't mind taking a 250+ hit on her, after she been sold, never shot don't matter.

I know it sucks bought my wife a Glock 17 gen 4, she shot it 4 times 5 at most, and i mean 5 shots, not 5 trips, she hates it been sitting in gun box. not a scratch on her any where still got the gold graphite lube in the slide. i couldn't trade her in at gun shop for more that 350, its a 575 dollar gun where i live. I FELL YOUR PAIN
