Varget in 20” 243 Ackley? Data

Wondering if anyone has run this with 105’s or h4895.
Need something faster and more stable than my current load for dogs.

What’s your current load? I’d try h4350 or rl16, burn rate isn’t exactly a straight up control factor over load stability.

H4350 used to be non existent.
And I believe varget and 4895 are more temperature stable from -30 to 100

I think I’d be going slower not faster. Varget seems way too fast. H4350 isnt nearly as scarce as it once was. rl16 is great(better even) and available as well.

Varget will not increase your chances. The powder that makes the most velocity in a 26” barrel, will still be the fastest in a 20” barrel. I cut my 27” 6 creed to 20”. Rl16 destroyed varget in the shorter barrel, just as it had in the 27”.

I am get 2 8 pounders of rl16 at the local store. How temp stable is it compared to varget or h1000?
What was your speed in the 20” creed?

I have a test somewhere for my 6xc from 35-120 degrees the h4350 was 60 fps change and rl16 was like 20 and an additional 50 fps with an equivalent charge weight. And I think h4350 is generally more temp stable than varget. Rl16 is really amazing stuff. It just deposits carbon. Keep the barrel clean proactively and you’ll love it.

Tried some of my rl26 loads for my long barreled Ackley in my short one. Looks pretty good
