I know this has been brought up before but i wanted to see if others peoples experiences mirrored my own. I shoot 44gr of varget, paired with a berger 175gr BT LR. When i chronographed these loads the first time last year my average was around 2618fps. I finally got some hard data shooting on steel out to 600yds some weeks ago in hotter temperature (70F). Data recorded as follows.
    Elevation(mil)
    300 1.3
    400 2.3
    500 3.4
    600 4.3

Today using my Dope and shooting out to 600 i was shooting high and having dial down about 2/10ths compared to my original collected results above. This was in 50F. Granted varget isn't supposed to be that temperature sensitive. It's like i've had a 50fps increase in velocity almost. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I'm getting an increase of 25-30 fps at 43 gr. and around 15 at 44 gr. under Berger 175 Tac's with an Oct. lot vs. one from June. All relative considering chrono. accuracy/error.

I woud suggest buying as much powder as you can. Small lot variences are inevitable. Several years ago Varget changed enough lot to lot to cause some folks to walk away from it. For the last three years at least the lots have been pretty consistant. That being said I just bought 24 lbs to get buy for at least a year. It is really no different than how bullets and brass also change lot # to lot #.
    As Always YMMV.

You are comparing differing atmospheric conditions against the same Varget lot shot? apples and oranges.

There is much more to conditions than just temperature which determine come-ups. Did you rezero your rifle prior to shooting? If you did, you'd find that the difference isn't all that great.

    Re: Varget lot variances?

I know barometric pressure and humidity play a factor but i've never had results change by 2/10ths. My elevation for 300yds has always been 1.3 Mils since i've been shooting 175gr BT LR paired with varget, from the humid summer to the winter it hasn't varied.

    Didn't rezero.
