Is there a huge difference between velocity and barrel length. I'm assuming there is but I just wanted to make sure.

There is but once you get past the optimal length for any particular caliber then the gains are minimal.

I'm not sure I understand the question. What are you asking exactly? Giving a "for instance" may help.

Thanks 308sako, that was what I was looking for.
The reason I asked this question is that I was doing some testing with some step loads I did this weekend, and the numbers I got where well below what I thought that they would be. I was using a DPMS .308 with a 1-10 right twist of 16" length. I think that this would answer why the velocity was lower then I thought they would. When I look at numbers I have seen that others have gotten with Reloader 17 they where all using longer barrels.
