Venezuela about to catch an ass whippen?

good to have been there input. tx. i sorta have the same vis a vis Chile thru relatives. my points would be 2. 1) regime change, narco busts, oil nothing going on here is worth more American lives. if that is your wish then grab a rifle and head on down. same applies to Gaza and Ukraine. the chest thumpers in this country always seem to want some more war. when it comes to going or sending their kids, not so much. 2) yes we have a huge drug problem. blowing up a few boats or removing Maduro is not gonna make a dent in the problem. Columbia and Mexico remain the big players. supply and demand-as long as there is demand supply is gonna happen. that is never mentioned in our decades long unsuccessful war on drugs. but that is a hard problem. easier to bomb stuff.
Singapore and,at 1 time Turkey, had a process. possession = immediate execution. i think the Taliban does similar. i doubt many in this country would find that a good plan.

So I’ve probably got a bit of different perspective on this than others. I spent a couple years in Venezuela and my wife is Venezuelan.

Things had been going downhill steadily since before Chavez was elected and we’re not rosy even before that. Once the oil industry was nationalized it was just a matter of time before entitlement and laziness take over.

The saddest part is that there is no will to be free of the corruption and oppression from the regime. With over 5 million people having fled the country, the only people left are too old, sick, or criminals themselves feeding from the same criminal enterprise. Latin American countries have been so corrupt for so long that it is part of the culture and is just expected to be that way.

Russia, China, and Iran have been infiltrating and propagandizing for a long time with much success. Russia and China have control of the oilfields, mining, and military. All have bases/training centers within the Country and this is without considering the whole Narco state issue (which is 100% true).

Most of the population would be perfectly happy with new government - but will not fight for it. As long as the free goods flow until it is stabilized, there would be minimal resistance. The only resistance would come from the useful idiots that live from the government and those with enough status that they are currently part of the oppression.

The Venezuelan military really is pathetic in it’s capabilities and we could expect a lot more trouble from the Narcos than from the actual military.

I was hopeful when Trump was in office last time but am now more worried that the entire country would become like Zimbabwe without occupation to maintain some level of law and order as the Venezuelans don’t even grasp the concept any longer.

My $0.02…
Thanks for the great perspective.
