Rifle Scopes viper or a SS...which is the better optic

Re: viper or a SS...which is the better optic

Without a doubt... SS all the way. Super tough, ease of use, super clear edge to edge, tactical turrents, superb resale value, SWFA customer service... hard to beat all that for a $300 scope.

If you are in IN then the 10x may be too much for hunting in wooded area. Overkill, pardon the pun

If you can go up to $500 you would be far better off with a sample list Super Sniper 3-9x42. It is much better hunting optic than a fixed 10 power and at 9 power it will work very well out to an m1a's effective range. I would imagine you would be less likely to be trading up in a year or two if you go with the variable SS.

I have mine mounted on a AR10T and could not be happier.

Or buy a decent used variable SFP scope.

I can't speak for the SS scopes since I've never owned one.

I've got several vipers though, and I have to say they represent an amazing value. Excellent glass for the price point, accurate tracking, and very rugged. My lightweight 338WM has a viper 2-7 riding on it that's held up to some serious shooting and a lot of miles over rugged country. That has become my benchmark for durability. That rifle is a scope killer.

I have both the SS 3-9x42 and the Vortex 2-7x32, both good scopes but it's no contest if you want the ability to dial your range and use your reticle. For an M1A the SS would be perfect.
