I guess this technically belongs in the "Observation and Sighting Devices" part of the forum.

I've been following Palmer Luckey's projects and his main passion was this virtual helment. They are supposedly close to having it ready to roll out in mass.
They have a group of experienced Team guys on staff to help direct the nerds on needed features and tweaks.

Pretty cool.

Ol boy has some money to throw around for sure, and he is in the right industry already
For sure.

His original quest and passion was the VR gaming headsets. He brought a lot of genius and crazy IP to the table and then got fired for his politics basically.

He took his brain into some other territory and has been cashing in since. The cool part is that his new companies and MIL focused solutions brought him back around to his original passion. Supposedly, he is single minded focused on bringing this to fruition in great numbers and at a cost low enough to put one on every grunt head.

We shall see.

I want the Hello Kitty version...

He loves modern tech, so if anyone is serious about it, he’s probably the guy.

I think he took delivery of the very first production model Black Fly personal drone as well. He sees the “wild” in the future and wants to deliver it I think

I agree.

He sees that we have a YUGE (sarc) gap in our ability to ramp and produce at volume. They are focusing on leading edge tech that is manufacturable at scale and at 1/10th of the price Lockheed, Raytheon or Boeing would be invoicing at. I think they are targeting a 2026 Q1 date for actual production in the new Ohio facility (5 million square feet with 500 acres to expand within) they are building.

Young guys that are thinking way, way, way outside the box and still delivering as promised. Pretty neat. That they are conservative and like guns are a nice bonus.

Ohio facility is mostly for the cruise missiles for now.

EagleEye, for now, is in Colorado. Anduril bought the whole division from Microsoft that was doing IVAS and augmented it with people and cash.

It is a very interesting project.

I had heard the Fury uncrewed wingman project would be their priority initially.
Trae Stephens mentioned that would be the first line up and running so they could prioritize the loyal wingman type initiative pairing with the F35 and F22.

The Ohio plant format is supposed to be very modular and able to efficiently pivot to different projects at scale. Sounds pretty neat.

That's what I had heard as well.

For others that may want to catch some details during lunch or a drive, here is an SRS interview with Trae Stephens. He give some details on the above topic.

I am going to go visit them in a couple of weeks, so I can ask what comes first, but Ohio is not the only large plant they are putting together. Their growth has been substantial.

Awesome!
I knew you were my hero for some reason.

I think it is a very sound move to have multiple manufacturing locations and keeping them geographically diverse.
They seem to be serious about fixing our strategic vulnerabilities. Putting all of our newest production and tech in one location would not be a smart move. Bravo.

I have an odd job where I get to have peripheral involvement with all sorts of interesting stuff.
