Be careful of visitors to your reloading room.
I let a young man use my press and dies to learn a little about reloading.
He saw a powder/shot measure used for my muzzle loading shotgun. I explained it's use. Apparently he liked it. Two days later, I looked for the measure, and it was gone. Nobody else had been in the room. Gratitude, I guess.
He will not be allowed back....
My grandson brought over a couple of his friends to shoot, and we went into the room to see the reloading set up.
Now I have a scope missing.
New policy.
NOBODY in my reloading room. Period.
Of course, I'm the dumbass in this situation. Shoulda known better.
Try to help someone enjoy the sport, and they steal from you.

Nobody is allowed in my reloading room without me. Ever!!

The room is secured and the wife is allowed to use the computer when she is down stairs doing laundry.

That sucks that you got shafted by someone you was trying to help. I would confront them and tell them to reutrn what they had taken or face charges.

Tell them you have video from a webcam of them. Let them get scared and they will bring it back if they have not already sold it. Look on craigslist, I had a Riding tractor stolen and the dumb ass listed it on Craigslist. Needless to say I showed up with my buddy (A Officer of the law) and ruined his day.

That sooo sucks! Try and do something nice and see what it gets you? Sorry that had to happen to you!!
Between my roommate and me there are lots of $$$ in our reloading room, I think I will learn from you!!!

I've got 5 presses set up, so you know there is a lot of support equipment, too.
Learned my lesson. If anyone else asks me about reloading, I'll tell them where to find a book.....

Whatever you do, CONFRONT the offenders. Instill AND maintain in them, the mantra of "Accountability". Especially in the 'responsible gun owners world' type of thing; that we won't accept that type of behavior. At best, I'd suggest giving him/them just ONE chance due to :

"Forgive them, for they know not what they do".

Then if they don't come clean, make amends and reparations, feel free to 'go biblical' on them in the sense of shunning, ostracizing, and banishing them publicly. (to whatever extent that you feel is required)

Simply because, our own "community" is more vigilant and 'stand-up' than most others. Not perfect, but it's up to us to police ourselves, right?

I've had a number of friends and bro's come into our cave. Some of which have brought children. These children KNOW not to touch anything without specific instructions AND permission beforehand.

And very quickly they learn that by adhering to the rules, they are rewarded greatly by being granted (nearly) full and free access while at the range. There are still many adults (men And women) in the world who haven't been introduced to our 'sports' and I personally believe that the more we instill properly, the better we all will be.

Sorry for the long-winded rant, but I hope you can garner my point 'between the lines'.

i feel bad for you bud , i have been screwed over trying to help people. It's a bad feeling. But I dont think you should harden your heart, if you keep doing it, eventually you'll turn into the people that have screwed you.

face charges ? he doesn't have any evidence , only heresay. It's his word agaisnt someone else's. Every state is different, but where i live, you wouldn't stand a chance.

HAHA webcam video... if he had that he could go to court , which he would just do , instead of bluffing, and so if the kids are smart , they'll know he's lying, otherwise he could have just brought up the charges.

shit, you don't want to go to court. Even if you get your stuff back, it will be a nightmare. Reminds me of the saying " you already lost something, keep this up and you'll lose something else."

I have a friend, everybody that walks into the house has to pass through his weight room/reloading room to get to the kitchen. And, he has a lot of visitors.

I put three deadbolts on my loading room door a long time ago, don't know why, but it seemed like a good idea, at the time. BB

That sucks man. My gun-guru (mark s here on the hide) is very generous when i visit him for loading advise, or even just to BS with him. We're always out around his shop with gear EVERYWHERE. I could never think, with as helpful and generous as he is, that anyone would ever steal from him.

Now that my bench is in full operation (in the middle of my garage btw), i have friends out there for darts and beers and worry about all the gear left out around the bench.

Hope the karma rolls around man. What a punk.

I do everything in my power just to hide the fact that I have guns from outsiders and even keep it under wraps with my family. I would NEVER let an outsider see, much-less know, that I have whole reloading setup.

You think a powder measure is bad, wait until you come home from your next vacation.
