I bought one on clearance and I like it. It's the only spotting scope I've ever owned so I don't really have anything to compare it to. I took it shooting last weekend and it was difficult but I could spot hits on paper targets out to 300yards. At 500 it was a no go on paper, but I make large "shoot n see" type targets with green poster board covered with clear packing tape and spray painted black. We had no problem seeing hits on my targets at 500, and everyone agreed we could easily have seen it farther out. If I had a bigger budget would I have spent more? Yes. But it works for me and I really dig the vortex warranty.
