Afternoon Gents,

Hey, can anybody report any issue(s) with reticle illumination blinking on and off based on a certain setting on the control knob?

Basically, all seem to work well and click on and off positively except # 8. Sometimes it'll light right up. Other times, it'll sit dark for a coupla seconds and then if I move the rifle or tap the knob, it'll light up. Sounds like something's faulty internally. Unfortunately, it's my most widely used setting.

Other than that, the thing is a rock. Elevation/windage adjustments positive and true. Reticle straight as an arrow. Holds zero. Love it.

Unfortunately, I'm rather pissed that I'll have to disassemble everything and pull it if the situation doesn't "correct" itself.

Yes, battery cap is as tight as I feel comfortable twisting. Took a nickel, held the elevation knob tightly to prevent it from turning and cranked the nickel down on the cap clockwise. It's on there......

?????

Thanks

PS - Oh yeah, many thanks to Scott at Liberty Optics. Dude is solid. I showed my father my PST and he had me call Scott immediately...He's now on waiting list for one.

Re: Vortex PST illumination issues????

I'd leave it alone and send it back. I had to send one of my PSTs back due to the reticle rotating when the may ring was turned. Had it back in a week and everything has been perfect since.

Re: Vortex PST illumination issues????

I had the same problem with mine so I call vortex and they told me to pull the cap off and reinstall and to make sure it is tight all the way,so I did and sure enough I did not have it stewed all the way in

Re: Vortex PST illumination issues????

If you can, give me a call (at your convenience) tomorrow at the office. There is a very good chance we can remedy this over the phone and there wont be a need to dis-mount the scope.

Just call the 800 number and tell who ever answers that I am expecting your call.

Best Regards
Scott

Re: Vortex PST illumination issues????

I had a similar issue with mine, illumination didn't always work, and even when in the Off position would drain batteries within 2-3 days (over a weekend shooting trip).

Tried the cap on and off trick, didn't fix the issue.

It's been back at the Aussie Distributor for months awaiting warranty...

Other than that, I own three Vortex Scopes, I love them, Just need this problem solved.

Re: Vortex PST illumination issues????

Yeah, no dice. Illumination still flickering on and off. It actually went completely dark after staying on for about 10 seconds....Had to tap the knob a coupla times.

Damn....Oh well. I reckon I'll get around to sending in sometime. I'm having too much fun with the rifle to do it now. Maybe in a month or two.

I'll chime back in with results later.

Scott, if you get back to this post would you please shoot me an email with return authorization instructions? Not sure if it's worth establishing an RA # right now or not.

Thanks again to all...

Re: Vortex PST illumination issues????

yeah, well uhhhhh....another setting might not be practical at a given moment.

plus, it also occurs on setting 9...not with as much regularity but it's still annoying and frustrating.

im gonna try a Duracell when I get home. maybe the Panasonic it came with is a POS or just old.

Scott at Vortex also recommended laying a piece of paper or something similar inside battery cap. might try an O ring.

hopefully, new battery solves it....i'm praying.

if not, may slip something in there to help apply more pressure.
