    Great scope.

Ran one side-by-side with a friend's Kowa 884, color at distance wasn't quite as good, but resolution was right there with. Size/weight are similar, brightness was close. The Razor is not a Kowa-beater, but it is closer in performance than the 2X price of the Kowa would indicate.

I hate bay window reviews more than most, especially on "tactical" gear, did a range test, no camera on hand, so this is what I have to post.

If in the market for a good spotter in the $1500 range, hard to beat the Razor.

    If you can get one.

tease!!!!I thought we would see boobies at a great distance and we could see the contrast of the scopes as we tried to figure out, A, D, C, D, DD, so on.

Re: Vortex Razor spotter = titties!

Been pretty impressed with my Razor spotter, the little bit I have used it so far. Really like having the reticle in the 30x eyepiece.

Hope to get more range time with it soon.

ETA- will try to get some titty pictures to try and make up for the mam-fail in this thread.

Re: Vortex Razor spotter = titties!

Damn, it's a common expression: saying something is titties means it is good gear.

Sorry for the lack of actual titties, see the girlfriend thread.

I like the Razor. Only real complaint is that it takes a bit more effort to get a good site picture than with the Kowa, but once you get it, the view is nice.

    Full review coming soon.

Re: Vortex Razor spotter = titties!

I bought a Demo from George at "Precision Shooting Sports" and I also purchased the Razor HD 30X R/T Tactical Eyepiece. I have to say that I think that the fixed power of the Tactical Eyepiece is far more clear than the variable eyepiece (and the variable eyepiece is pretty impressive).

Additionally, I did a non scientific side-by-side comparison with the Vortex vs. my Leupold's Tactical spotting scope and I really can tell a difference as far as clarity and brightness. Hands down the Vortex gets my vote.

Re: Vortex Razor spotter = titties!

This a general observation and not directed at the OP. One of the best things about this site is the optics and equipment reviews. My personal "objective" measure of a given optic is how far away can I see a .30 (or .22) bullet hole on front lit sheet of white paper at a given power. I know it will vary by conditions like altitude, humidity and mirage, but if a reviewer can give us some sense of how the optic compares to what they currently use in terms of resolving bullet holes it would really be helpful, especially when you can compare it to a know quality optic like the Kowa in this case.

Everyone here can instantly relate to a statement like: At 40x the leupold 20 x 40 allowed me to see .22 cal bullet holes at 500 yards (I live in the mountains)while the Simmons (I had to pick on someone)could barely to it at 300. So if you can, in a review give us your local conditions, (alt, temp, some approximate humidity value, etc.) and how far away you can see bullets holes at a given power, and if you can compare it something else you have on hand in the same conditions.

Dont get me wrong I want to know about the color and the light gathering and every thing of note, but those are somewhat "subjective". A measured value gives me something to compare to what I am currently using.

Now if you are going to actually show tits in your review (and this is certainly encouraged in every review) I can happily judge the optic quality for my self, and the "tit resolution factor" in this case would clearly out outweigh seeing a simple bullet hole. So please, try to give one or the other in your optics reviews. Keep em coming!

I used TBass' Vortex today and was very impressed. His mil-hash reticule was fantastic calling wind and shots at 1700 yards.

Here's an example of the resolution of the Razor HD spotter at distance.

Here is a view of the valley in my area. My son and I often hike the face of a small ski slope, puts us at about 800 ft elevation above the city. I snapped a couple thru the scope pics with my cel-phone camera.

I've noted 2 landmark, one is an old mill smoke stack at 1.3 miles from our vantage point. The other is Wally World at a distance of 1.25 miles.

Here is the tower at 20x and again at 60x
Camera resolution is 1200x1600 out of an 1/16" cel phone lens.

Finally Wally world at 60x @ 1.25 miles

    LOL!

Re: Vortex Razor spotter = titties!

30X eye piece with ranging reticle is inbound, will let you know what I think.

Off to the range sometime this week, will try to get some "through the scope" pics of bullet-riddled targets at range.

The mil reticle has cross-hairs at lower left so it ain't centered in the field - which I like.

The 30X is a great addition, much wider field of view than the variable at 30X, slightly clearer and than the 20-60 even at 20X.

The spotter is worth the money, as is the 30X eye piece.
