Rifle Scopes Vortex Viper PST gen II zero stop question

My brain isn’t the biggest and I’m struggling to figure out how to do this...... I watched the videos on YouTube AFTER I went to the range. Ugh.

I found that with the dial set to NEGATIVE 9.1 mils it’s got my zero perfect........ how do I adjust the zero stop without going back to the range?

Ultimately I had to go back just to ensure it’s perfect and have some ammo testing to do....... but kinda wanted to check this box off ASAP.

I thought you cranked the turret all the way to max elevation then remove turret. Zero with turret off and turn the dials. Reinstall turrets and lock them down.

Yup. That would be the way you’re supposed to do it.

You can’t. You should have zeroed with the inside turret.

Page 14 of the manual steps 1-9. Reinstall outer turret cap page 15 steps 1-3.

The one thing the manuals (Viper and Razor) leave out is you have to tighten the inside turret between adjustments or rounds will not group (as if mounts are loose). Fire sighter group and repeat. Get it right (leaving half a mil or a MOA of "down" available - so your zero-stop locks BELOW the zero when the outer turret caps is replaced), then replace the outer cap with its zero aligned with the mark on the turret body.

EDIT: Viper PST zeroing is different from Razor zeroing is different from... It pays to read the manual. I've had a bunch of Vortex scopes, from lower-end to my current Razor Gen-2s and Viper PST Gen-2s, and I still went back to the manual today when I installed and zeroed the latest Razor - like a pilot checklist.

Edit 2: You may want to start all over by re-centering the reticle (turn max up, then dial to maximum down, divide by rotations by 2, dial back up that amount, do same for windage). Then set your zero per the manual.

This is my first scope with a zero stop and just got excited. Didn’t even cross my mind to read the damn manual.

Yes!, I just learned this the hard way at the range yesterday. I pulled the turret cap off my Vortex Razor and adjusted the black inner dial but didn't realize that until I retighten the three set screws the outer turret is not rotating with the black inner dial anymore. So it turned into another day of public humiliation at the range again. I shot a few more rounds and realized I still don't understand this scope and packed up and left.
When I get to the range its like my IQ drops twenty points for some reason.
